My Opera Speed Dial

, , , ...

Recently I entered the Speed Dial Contest with my current speed dial, as I had no time on my hands. Now that the competition is over, I decided to polish it up a bit p This is how it looks at the moment wink

Update: 07/05/2010, as of today, snapshot builds of 10.54 have been tweaked, and rendering of thumbnails has previously been much improved. Unfortunately you may have to redo your thumbnails, making sure they are 256×192 (to stop them being stretched). Incidentally, this is how my speed dial currently looks.

The thumbnails I used can be downloaded here (.zip) Updated for 10.54, and the background image can be found here. I'm happy enough with how it's looking smile

If you want to do this yourself, you'll need Opera 10. To have a transparent thumbnail background you will need a skin with one (for example Speed Dial - Clear which I'm using). Then follow Tamil's tutorial on how to change speed dial thumbnails. The Opera Image Dial Generator is a great tool to generate your own thumbnails.

Thanks MyOpera for a great contest! up Looking forward to the next one as always!

A Gmail w/ Themes Styling Problem

, , , ...

OK, first off, it's not an Opera problem, it's a Gmail problem. When Gmail released their recent "themes" update, Gmail became unordered for me, as if the CSS wasn't being loaded...

Worse still, it appeared only to be broken in Opera... I feared the worst. My first move was to reset all my Gmail settings to default, no luck sad After that, i left the problem for a few days, hoping it would be quietly fixed, or people would start to complain. Not to be...

I tried a clean install of Opera. Finally! Success smile So I began to think what could be so different in my version of Opera... After some testing, it boiled down to this: I had set a user agent sub-string, and Gmail was playing nasty.

To clear this setting, visit Opera:Config and search for "id". Reset to default and save.

I haven't reported this to google... I couldn't find an easy way to do so, at least on first glance, but i hope this helps anyone else suffering this problem wink

Holiday's end

, , , ...

Sorry no post during the austrian ski holiday. Very action packed, which is a good thing, but not a free wifi connection for miles! Good weather, it snowed on (i think) the third day, so the slopes were in good condition. Its my third skiing holiday, and I've been on the fake stuff for quite a while before that, so i'm quite a good skier. I was skiing with my family, less my mum, who decided to take lessons. The hotel Gansleit was very cozy, with food that you just don't get here in ireland. There's a good chance i'll be going back there next year. (the following year i'll be sitting my leaving cert)

In other news, I've enabled MMS blogging, and what a nuisance hyperlinks are! In other other news, I've won a merrit award in the hamilton maths challenge. They had an award for each competing school, and then decided to give a few extra merrit awards to "strong contenders". I get a cannon IXUS digital camera! p

A Random Update

, , , ...

I've cleared up this "blog" a bit (deleted most of the posts)

Whether or not i find anything useful to fill it with now is the question! For instance, this post is just pointless. I suppose i should have warned you not to read it, too late now! p

OK, anyone out there who likes evanescence? Either way, you can listen to some of their material (Demos and Unreleased) at the following website: http://evanescencereference.info/music/

Opera 9.5! Can you wait?? And you know what sucks? I'll probably be on holiday when its released cry

Thanks for asking:P I'm off to Austria skiing on the 19th! Might get to make a post while i'm there on my NEW PSP!
