Vanessa, a happy hippo.
Word bank:
A butterfly, a butterflies, to run away, alone
This is Venessa. She’s a hippo. Vanessa hasn’t got any friends. She’s alone. She’s sad.
She goes for a walk. She sees two tigers. She wants to play, “Hello, tigers!” “Hello!Can you play football?” they ask. “No, I can’t.” and the tigers run away.
She sees two rabbits. Vanessa wants to play, “Hello, rabbits!” “Hello! Can you play volleyball?” they ask. “No, I can’t.” And the rabbits run away.
Then Vanessa sees two giraffes. She wants to play, “Hello giraffes!” “Hello! Can you play basketball?” they ask. “No, I can’t,” she says. And the giraffes runaway.
Suddenly Vanessa sees two butterflies. She wants to dance, “Hello, butterflies!” “Hello! What’s your name?” they ask. “Vanessa.” “What a beautiful name!”
“Let’s dance together!: they say. Vanessa is happy. She can dance!

Have you got a friend?
What do you do together?
Is he or she a good friend? Why?
