Soft as sludge and a lot slower

I have a lot of stuff I was compiling over the last few weeks, files too large to go on a blog and all of it something that you'd find better than in a book or a specially written site.

So I tried to dose it on my old MSN group but the damned new place is a slotchy game I don't have time to play.

This is a local public library computer as I don't have an account at home, so I suppose I should be grateful. It's in every way a major pain though.

Still it will help me cut down on the bad language and keep my posts to a realistic number so I should be happy. Except that I can't find their version of the My Computer thing.

I've finally got around to Linux at home. Not all that impressed with the OS I have but it is a very good music centre that keeps falling over aka Windows BSOD. So much for the small brains behind all the invective about Microsoft.

I've got a list of the things the Encyclopeadia Britannica has about the various earth sciences. Magnetism and meatyorology and the like.

I suppos if I find anyone interested in the black art I aught to give them a source to start with. I'd use the free online one if I could get online. The Enc Brit is seriously hampered by brevity and US sponsorship. I also think it is under the thumb of the state religion there.

So I did a scatchelogical exercise on the trinity. I was trying to look up something I said about Arianism on a blog here last year. And boy did that lead on to a box of tricks.

And all of it on a USB stick right here with me and no way to plug in any excerpts.

UpdateGoing with the flow.

Crap!

I can open it in their Microuseful office which will not open Writer from Open Office. Open Office can handle Word but Word can't touch anything written by a bunch of amateurs too measely to pay the Window tax.

So I have got to go back home to reinstall it as Wad or Snotpad. It's a good job my net session will end in 10 minutes as I have just been informed in friendly blue and white letters.

I've been spoiled too long. It's time other things in my life got irritatingly difficult.

Ta ta.

Why not use a plain text editor, gnu or linux distro's have plenty of those. Probably even some supporting RTF.

That was in a small over warm underventilated room with IE as the preferred option. Not a real cyber experience thought the D/L speeds are a lot better than in our pubic licerbries.

I suppose I might have got it open in their Office pack but note pad screwed it up. Abiword is available on the drive I have it on at home plus whatever notepad equivalent Fedora uses. (No idea.)

But it wouldn't open whatever and I wanted to make sure that I could read and play with anything I was going to send before it went out.

I'm in the library next door now. The computers are fine but the connection is still slooooooow. I think a lot of it is down to getting new cookies as I don't want permanence with the machines, obviously.

And the rest is probably down to the latent heat of IE when asked to do what it was supposed to be designed for besides make shortcuts for crooks to break into your desk top with.

Ah well.

Perhaps the world is a better plaice without my carefully worded insincerities.

We won't die because of your rant WL. We would even miss some of it should you no longer send them out.

I spent a lot of time rankling at the misdeeds of several experts writing for the Encylopaedia Britannica. It seems all I learned is that it's just another work of man.

I found a lot of dicrepancies with the stuff it has on weather but then I also learned stuff I should have learned a long time ago.

Then I started looking up some religious stuff after thinkking about a post I wrote that upset someone.

Then I compiled a massive script. Yesterday I read it through and realised it was a load of twaddle.

The internet is not a place to take yourself seriously in. It reveals the fact you are boreing and stuck on some imagined crisis that only affects you. When out there, in the real world there are plenty of up to date ones that affect everyone.

Still at least I learned something fascinating. Besides the fact I am an obsessive that is. I already knew that but I thought it was clever instead of the more obvious description of people like that.
