"One of the greatest titles we can have is "old friend". We never appreciate how important old friends are until we are older. The problem is we need to start our old friendships when we are young. We then have to nurture and grow those friendships over our middle age when a busy life and changing geographies can cause us to neglect those friends. Today is the day to invest in those people we hope will call us "old friends" in the years to come."
It is exciting to make new friends and travel the path of discovering and understanding their personalities, preferences, experiences and dreams. Ah, but there is something magical, comfortable and comforting about old friends.
My new friends spice up my life with the knowledge, wisdom and lessons they bring from their life experiences and the dreams they are living and pursuing. I bask in the serious, funny and inspiring stories they tell and hope they savor and appreciate the stories and dreams I bring to our friendship table.
I am blessed to have a some old friends in my life. Our life paths have run parallel to and crisscrossed each others - spanning all manner of experiences and emotions. Other old friends, I've only reconnected with in recent times and we are working on strengthening the bonds that lay dormant for far too long.
Sift through your memories, treasure your thoughts on old friends and how the new friends who, in the future, will be affectionately labeled "old friends".
