Trespassing

, , , ,

You will get a few raised eyebrows just mentioning texture to a "normal" human being. Sometimes there is that look that a puppy gives you with the head cocked to the side as he watches you putting a weed eater back together.

Unless you are an artist obsessed, or driven to make textures you may not understand how someone could relax by creating, tweaking or researching textures. You will get a few raised eyebrows just mentioning texture to a "normal" human being. Sometimes there is that look that a puppy gives you with the head cocked to the side as he watches you putting a weed eater back together. Not that I've ever had a weed eater and a puppy at the same time in my life, but you get the picture. People will even make that little whining sound in the back of thier throat as you explain why you're taking pictures of the old John Deer in thier pasture.

My wife is my "wheel man" not that she's in least bit masculine but she'll keep the SUV running while I tramp around the gray areas of trespassing to get a better shot of some very cool cracked slate or weathered tin. BTW-if you don't have at least 947 shots of weathered tin or similarly rusted metal clogging up your folders... you aint no texture artist.

My dream hobby would be "urban exploration". As a Christian, Father and Mentor I have decided I must stay on this side of the trespassing laws and only go places that are public access. I have had dreams since childhood (literally) of exploring creepymoldydustyspiderwebbed old abandoned buildings and architecture. I have my eye on a few places I pass on the way to work, but as I said besides the dangers in dilapidated ruins, there's that "law" thing. Dangonnit!

I saw a bicyclist camping out atop one of these ruined structures on evening. They must've had quite a climb in thick brush and trees to get up on this 3 or 4 story cement building in the middle of a swampy creek bed. But there they were, tent and all. Safe for the night from water moccasins*, alligators, “Ol Mossy-Back**” and 4-wheelin’ rednecks up to no good. (Not that there are any of those around here.) I'll post a pic of the place if I can get one. Maybe get my "wheel man" to help me.

lol My wife is my "wheel man" too.
There is nothing like the decaying industrial sites to inspire. But you do get some odd looks pointing the camera at a wall or patch of rust.
