Humble Pie

Open mouth insert foot. I am a passionate man, and if I believe something passionately at times I can and do end up with a size 11 foot in my flapping mouth.

Open mouth insert foot. I am a passionate man, and if I believe something passionately at times I can and do end up with a size 11 foot in my flapping mouth. Passion should never spill over to idiocy but many times as the heart engages the tongue it releases the brakes of courteousness. Sooner or later it all goes careening down the mountain of thought at breakneck speed. Many times although the neck is not broken the rules of decency are shattered.

One good thing about having your foot wedged firmly between your teeth, you generally can't say much more. Being coherent and understood are goals not always held tightly enough for the passionate speaker.

Being right and knowing it are not a blank check for rudeness. One may also find with time they are not the only party holding the deed to Rightland. Flipping the deed over it might actually say Wrongsville.

A favorite Tom Hanks quote of mine is from You've Got Mail, "…Hello its Mister Nasty" Sometimes he just shows up and stinks up the place. "Forgive us our debts as we forgive..." Humble pie doesn't have much taste but it beats the flavor of foot.

I'm lucky in that most of my co-workers have learned not to take everything I say to heart. Just the other day I was kicking myself, for a situation I created. Thankfully, it didn't end up being a big deal. Whew..

hello!

I like this post, not just its content but also the humorous way u use. In fact, I am a victim of those who are interested in humble pie, so I often talk to myslf "It s better NOT to believe in anyone, just hear, don't listen!" +_+

but part of your text I don't understand...maybe for I am a non-native English speaker and I guess you wouldn't refuse to explain that for me :left: :right:

here it is :
"Being right and knowing it are not a blank check for rudeness. One may also find with time they are not the only party holding the deed to Rightland. Flipping the deed over it might actually say Wrongsville."

did you mean ppl who are not aware of their lie would get bad outcome in return???

I really went "The long way round" to say:

Knowing you are right about a thing doesn't mean you can be rude. One may find that in time you were wrong, after all.

I had to read that a few times myself to understand it. At least I think that is what I meant at the time. (but then I might be wrong)

Thanks for reading, and commenting.

nahhh...then "humble pie" is written by some body else, not you? :ko: :faint:

anyway, sharing is good enough though

hope you will have time collecting good new text !

Ha ha ha... thanks. I think.

This is MY blog and I wrote the above blog after a few pots of coffee I'm sure. I have my moments. Yes, I'm the proud writer of "Humble Pie".
(A weak attempt at humor)

By the way, you can check for plagiarism very easily these days by Googling large sections of text from a page or blog. If the blog you got it from pops up first then it is most likely written by the blogger.

Rightland and Wrongsville are metephors for the "states of being" right or wrong.

When you say you are a victim, do you mean emotionally hurt by people that can't admit they are wrong?

Yep, rite! I am a fresh graduate, just like a baby bird first learning how to survive in wild environment. I got a few shocks, but now I am kind of inert gases and get used to with the culture here "Say one way, do another way!". Truths & lies are stirred up making a big bowl of soup "Sweet lies".And of cos, those ppl never admit they made faults, they blamed me or some hell objective conditions...

ok I got your point...we can use reference to make our writing more vivid...what I meant is not very often I catch topics I like...
