This seems like an in-between year 2011. We are jammed between possibilities and hopes of great things happening in 2012 and predictions and fears of apocalyptic things occurring next year. To conservatives we’ve seen a shift of influence that we hope will lead to revitalizing our economy, security and international standing. The Mayans I hear had a bleak outlook about next year, but what do they know. They didn’t even predict being conquered or how society would eventually frown upon cutting out the heart of a living person as a central theme of a community event. Either way we’re now a year away from the next “Y2K”. And if you can remember how that came down, things went ok all things considered. So…why not a list:
Why do we like to list things? Is it simply the means to gather our thought before undertaking the new task? Lists just “feel right”. Good. “Woody!” Remember the Monty Python “Woody-Tinny” sketch? (Youtube-it) The beginning title ironically starts with a list of potential locations for the setting humorously crossing out each until it settles on England. Lists are sort of “woody” things. Whatever the reason, I felt like a list which could have a resolution sort of aspect to the New Year.
1. Alignment
2. Focus
3. Energy
4. Work
5. Efficiency
6. Connection
7. Organization
8. Production
9. Education
10. Development
11. Acceleration
Reworking my website welbornworks.com to incorporate my work with the Texas Animators Organization, Visual Bacon Textures, Caden Welborn Music and Caracas Fracas Music is one of my top priorities. Having become involved with Facebook over the past year, I have seen its potential as an excellent networking tool. The Texas Animation Organization was born as a result of FB’s group tools. So I will integrate FB into my future Welborn Works daily endeavors.
With the state of the nation in turmoil my political interests have been solidified. As with so many I have found a familiar voice with the T.E.A. Party. Their efforts from the first words of Rick Santelli’s catalytic statements on the floor of the NY Stock Exchange in February of 2009 to the November Tsunami in 2010, the rise of the TEA Party has given real hope to me and a great many others. My plans for 2011 will include doing what I can to help turn this country around and back to its constitutional roots. This blog I suppose it part of the first two things on my list, alignment and focus. We have to know where we are and where we want to go before we can even hope of getting there. The new House of Representatives have a great idea of starting with the rereading of the U.S. Constitution. The Christian’s “Constitution” is The Bible. So, I will begin with Proverbs which is a great place to find alignment and focus.
“A wise man will hear and increase learning, And a man of understanding will attain wise counsel, To understand a proverb and an enigma, The words of the wise and their riddles. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, But fools despise wisdom and instruction.”
Proverbs 1:5-7
It amazes me how people react when you throw some scripture out there. Some call you “Holier Than Thou” Which is kind of funny because the scripture itself says that the reader ISN’T holy and that’s exactly WHY we need it. We’re stupid and the only way to get out of that “stupid-ocity-ness” is to get more scripture into our minds and hearts.Anyway that’s a good start for 2011. Get some more wisdom from the Word and have a great year.
