Up Late

As you may have heard another group is getting ready to leave. The planet that is.

Although it has ended badly for some before who have claimed THE END IS NEAR. Well for them it was. Those who believed Applewhite and followed him beyond this life in the Heaven's Gate Cult know now how wrong he was. The people of Jones Town who literally "Drank the Kool-Aid" and followed Jones to their deaths also now know it was only their end that came. And that end at the manipulation of an evil and deranged mind.

I’m not saying Harold Camping’s MAY 21st group is a suicide group. But their belief in a date of THE END causes most Christians and unbelievers especially to remember the last time we’d heard those words. We can’t help but think of followers who gave more than their money or personal bank accounts to some self-described prophet.

Beyond the embarassment of the failure of so adamant a claim. For the world it only casts more doubt. What will the world think when real signs are pointed out by real believers who still read and understand the truth of the Word. The world will have one more thing to laugh about and say, “Yeah right, here we go again” or “Uh Oh, here goes another cult following some nut job to their deaths”

There will be a Second Coming. Just like there was a First Coming. And no it isn’t marked on my calendar or ANY other believer’s. How can one believe Jesus is coming again and yet ignore His own words about the matter? You can Google any scripture in a matter of seconds. Start with this one: “But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only…”

Yes The Revelation does point out a great many signs that will happen and be clearly undeniably visible but there are no dates written down. Perhaps that was what the writer John was about to write in this passage, “…And when the seven thunders spoke, I was about to write; but I heard a voice from heaven say, “Seal up what the seven thunders have said and do not write it down.” REVELATION 10:4

Just a thought.

"We can’t help but think of followers who gave more than their money or personal bank accounts to some self-described prophet."

The trouble with religion is that it encourages people to get close. And when you get too close to maniacs it can become a problem to see reason or to back away.

Being "Involved" and religious you try harder than it is worth to make the pieces fit. And the alternative is to give up friends. Either that or try and live in a dichotomy.

Where do you draw the line at struggling to get in through the narrow gate and making a complete and blinded fool?

All the signs are there, and why must we be so scared of it? Maybe we just dont need to think bout it too much.

Just keep on living, be good to urself and others and trust in God. Everything will be o.k. When it happens, it happens.

Weatherlawyer, Please forgive the lapse of time here. And my missing the reponse and the question.

I understand your statements about struggles and questions. Religion is one matter, faith in God is another. The "troubles with religion" are many. Many men have created many religions that have so little to do with Truth and God and much to do with control, power, money and pride.

God's true faith and those that follow Him will act like His Son. Doing the things He said, How He said to do them. And spreading His Word and Love to others. Any true religion of God will be all about that and not designed around or actively participating in acts that are clearly to gain Power, accumulate Money, display earthly Pride.

I like how Jesus described real true faith. Like a child. Not blind but eyes wide, seeing everything and yet simply trusting in God. Kids see what adults sometimes miss. Ask any magician. Kids get straight to the point without pride, or complication. They ask the "silly" questions. God gives straight answers.

The Bible talks about those that would deceive. And says beware. Test them. Watch their deeds, inspect their "fruit" or what they produce. Most cult members started out knowing just enough of the Bible to be lead into dangerous territory. And as you said they go against their inner voice, instinct, and The Spirit, when they hear something that sounds a bit fishy.

As for the “narrow gate” analogy. I think it is narrow to keep anything but you from going through. That’s the only struggle. Leaving behind everything of our own doing. Only the person can enter by faith in Jesus. (John 14:6 ) One can’t “go through” with a backpack full of stuff like “My awesome accomplishments”, “My Money, Fame, Philanthropic Foundation etc.”

The gate admits each person in humble understanding of who God is, how much He loves us, and what He did to bring us to Him. And to be with Him forever. ( That’s the famous John 3:16 )

Dang, this could've been a whole blog....

"Uhura is busy. I am monitoring."

Actually I have been busy. Upgrading my brain cells with more info on Character Animation.

Digging that "fall out shelter" in the back yard. (JK)

Lots to do, and so little time to do it in.
