How about that inaugural benediction huh?

Good grief.

How about that inaugural benediction huh?

Good grief.

It is NOT hard to celebrate the fact that the first man with a black father has become the president of America. Praise God. It's about time, long overdue etc. etc. But. I am NOT a socialist. Barack Hussein "Messiah" Obama IS a socialist in words and action.

Therefore it is not a source of joy for me to see this man in this position. Leftist will shout for joy (if they know that emotion at all) I know there are Americans of African heritage out there that are disappointed as well that the first black president of the country doesn't hold this countries founding principles in very high regard. I wish him health and happiness sure but not success in his leftist, liberal, anti-capitalist administration.

At one time blacks were told to ride in the back of the bus. Should a "preacher" in 2009 be praying for the Lord to "help us work for that day, when black will not be asked to get in back..." I would rather pray that the Lord help us see as He does, looking at what's on the inside. Seeing the heart of a man his thoughts towards God and towards his brothers. I believe in God's eyes we are all the same. I would pray that we can look back and say let's make sure that racism is in the past and thank God that we have a future together.

As to the prayer about working for that day when "...white will embrace what is right" I'm sure Lowery just wanted to make a little joke at the expense of whites maybe from the bitterness of struggles he's been through. But hey I thought that when you used a persons color as the bases of a joke that was discriminating and politically incorrect. I guess racism is only racism when it's from the descendant of some slave owning white guy. I'm sure "Rev" Jeremiah Wright was ROFL.

OK. Comments?

Not sure you were referring to something Obama said or did or to his one time minister.

Over here we had a TV presenter referring to blacks as Golliwogs. In this day and age with a brother in gaol in Africa for formenting insurrection and attempting a coup d'tat.

And a mother famous for warfare and treachery herself. But that was all righteous was it? Because they were white and christian right wingnuts?

As it happens Obama is a politician. Anything he does is set to fail for that reason alone. All the more so as he has as much control as a democratically elected minority can have following a corrupt, vicious and unconstitutional regime.

Anyone who thinks racism isn't alive and well fed in this day and age is losing the plot. Sorry about that. But it is as true as it ever was.

I wish him well but so far things have not changed much have they?

The reference was to the inaugural benediction which was filled with racism. I'm not sure what you were writing about. I don't disagree that racism isn't alive and continuing to fester in the nation.

Racism to me is one of the dumbest things a person can argue for. I can understand a corporation or sports team winning bragging rights and saying we're the best. It is a contest and can be judged by rules culminating in a victor and a loser. But saying because one is born with a certain amount of pigment or absence of melanin and that makes you some sort of superior being. Holy hogwash Batman! Might as well be saying webbed feet makes you the natural rulers of the earth since it is mostly covered with water.

No particular shade of skin gives a person the right to say negative things about persons of any other shade of skin. It is ridiculous that we still need to say this.

The only racist comment I remember from the inauguration was the blessing he poured out on the settlers war on the original inhabitants of the USA.

Britain is a very racist country. A lot of it is underground now but there is no end to it. The facist party the BNP has split into smaller branches with new names to get their men elected by subterfuge.

The message is not so in your face hatred but they mean harm.

I think it waas only to be expected that the newly elected President had to say something about the colour of his skin. Or did you suppose it aught to go unremarked? The previous regime was so destitute of any responsibility moral or anything else that there was no choice for the new man.

I very much doubt he'd have got far without the train wreck of that monkey mastermind and the collusion and evil that surrounded him. And even then it took a US conspired international disaster to make sure of it.

But each to his own. I can't remember the speech. What are you referring to?

Ok, so I see you've swallowed some Koolaid of some sort of radical left "Bush and the Right are pure Evil" tripe and then missed the actual words from the inaugural benediction.

The particular "humorous" comments in the prayer asking that one day the white will embrace what's right, the implication being that white people don't now do this. Yeah it is silly but racist and a slam none the less. No where near the level of "Rev" Wright's stuff but...

Ok, so I watched the inauguration from beginning to end and I totally agree with your assessment of the benediction. My mouth was wide open during most of it; truly not believing what I was hearing.
One of my favorite sayings is "Color only describes us, it does not define us." There were several references in the media coverage, the benediction and some of Obama's own words that kept pointing to issues of color. If we would all stop pointing out our differences, maybe we could actually see the similarity of our situations. (I think this is a pretty obvious assessment, but a lot of people don't see it that way.)

Thanks, smwrld63146.

Many a con artist has used the knowledge of our natural tendency for visual bias to steal money from unsuspecting people. I've heard it said that you can get into a lot of places if you "look like" you belong there.
What's inside is the true nature of a person. That was illustrated so well in the movie Shallow Hal.

I love the fact that Jesus hit this head on by constantly shocking those around him and hanging out with various people. The fact that He crossed the so called "lines" of race and class all the time shows we should do the same and realize. Those are false lines most of the time. Lines that man creates and God doesn't recognize as real or important. They're lines that only hinder fellowship and weaken the strength of the community. And Nation even.
