This reminds me of videos from the 1980s. So how do you go about syncing the visual to the audio?

Bryan S. Welborn 2. March 2008, 21:27

Thanks. I just wing it. Some of it is just looking at the wave and visually syncing it on the timeline. Nothing magical or anything.
The figures are all looped in 3DS Max with various lengths. If you'll look close they are probably not all that in sync with the music, they just appear that way.

Human chickens, Dad? My personal taste with that genre calls for shorter pieces when there isn't much variation, but I'm guessing there was some loss of quality in the format. Perhaps I didn't hear them.

There is some a loss of quality with the youtube video and sound does suffer some. The subtle bass lines suffers most I think. Caden likes to build layer on layer. There are several changes, and breaks in this piece.

The Techno/Dance/trance format reminds me a lot of classical formats in that there is a lot of repeating of melodic themes and playing the same theme on different instruments, adding another voice here and there. Countering with another theme adding or dropping percussion in a section here or bringing voices in there.

Most dance stuff seems longer to me than more commercial "pop" stuff. From what I've found they average 7 minutes or so, many mixes are way over that. I guess that's the nature of club type music that DJs even mix to much longer "marathon" works of symphonic lengths. I guess so they get the "Party never stops" effect.

Caden listens to a lot of variety and has grown fond of the works of a few contemporary movie composers as well as some Techno/dance musicians. Music for games is another big study/love of his.
