Why Science Won't Be Able To Tell a Liar from a Truthteller Anytime Soon

Just a note on Duped: Can brain scans uncover lies? about Liars -- and catching them using brain scans.
Just so you and I both know, even if you don't have time for the article.
It's a bunch of hocus-pocus. Try this, imagine going to your refrigerator, drinking from the milk carton and then, immediately, pour yourself a glass of milk and drink it. Go back into your room and have your Significant Other say, "Did you drink from the milk carton?" "I poured myself a glass."
You didn't lie. Now imagine you can build that memory yourself. The reality that exists in our minds is subjective. Ask a stalker if he or she really believes the object of their affection loves them? With all their heart.
We have a whole industry where we create "fake" realities.
In other words, you've been warned -- 100% lie detection isn't just a pipe dream, it's impossible because our minds do not reflect reality or truth but THEIR perception of reality and truth.
It's a very important point that may be missed. That said... will it work for some? Yes, but if even one person can lie to the machine (or tell the truth and be called a lair), then all other results may be called into question.
Yum
