Simple Story

Duh...

So this annoys me.

"Someone made a fatal mistake" WELL DUH!

How about the 49 people who got on the plane?

Of course someone made a fatal mistake.

The purpose of this headline is to do something I abhor in news, point fingers to come up with a catchier headline. "Someone's screwed up!" -- Duh, even 'mechnical error' is usually due to someone not making a proper repair or a manufacturing error. Needless to say, wherever the error, "someone" is usually at fault... well, an act of god? I suppose those lighting strikes that bring down planes would be no one's fault... but we're not likely going to see:

"No one made a fatal error," as a news headline anytime soon.

And I guess that goes to my very point. It's only because we want to assign blame. It's not bad enough that 49 people are dead, we have to immediately start the scape goat hunt. Sure, someone may be at fault. Usually in these types of accidents it is a bunch of someones...

But one thing is for sure, "Someones" died and it's sad. Isn't that enough for the moment?

Yum
