snowfall, dusting, melting, winter 2008
...
Just a dusting of snow on the night of January 17, 2008 . . . quickly melted away by the balmy weather of the following day. Beautiful while it lasted.

I took these pictures just after dark a few days before Christmas 2007. I love the intense colors of the winter sunset and how quickly they morph into a deep sapphire. These are my first attempts at nighttime photography, so definitely a work in progress.

I anticipate that I will be taking more pictures of the sky than anything else for the rest of the winter. We are now experiencing spring in the midst of January. Quite eerie. I don't miss the cold so much as I long for snow. So, I consider myself quite lucky to have evidence of winter from the gorgeous photos posted here on the Winter Photo Network.

I just posted a modest photo album of eight shots of a series of storms we just had here in Southern Colorado, I'll be posting more in my own photo area on my page, so if you want to see more shots there'll be an album dedicated to the storm on my site. Enjoy, here's one photo taken after the storms.

... but the winter is mostly gray and dull around here. In last year's winter album, I had few photos I loved... None such in this season's album. However, who knows, maybe a nice one appears.

I decided, after opening this post, that I'd take pictures of my view of this season. For now, this is all I have to offer.

Well finally we are getting a good one. The snow is piling up as I write and the flakes are getting bigger as the evening moves in. We should get anywhere from 6 to 15 inches tonight. New shots have been posted in my winter album.
You can go HERE to see more shots. I should have some more tommorrow to share.
