Wooden Shutters

Types of wooden shutters

If you want to classify wooden shutters, then you can consider four types – the estate grade, premium grade, standard grade and utility grade. In the estate grade type of shutters, the topmost superior quality wood such teak, mahogany and Spanish cedar are chosen. Thus these wooden shutters remain in top condition for a long time. Then other superior quality procedures and processes are also used to ensure that the estate grade shutters are top class in quality. Premium wooden shutters are low quality shutters made from soft wood such as western red cedar. It won’t be even able to stand the standard US climate.

Then come the Standard grade wooden shutters which are usually made from low quality common wood and are assembled in a very common unscientific way. Here the wood used are commonly pine or western cedar wood which are soft wood and not too good in manufacturing shutter. Utility grade shutters are the third type. These shutters are manufactured in bulk and usually come from China or Mexico. A very prominent disadvantage of these shutters is that it cannot be painted and in the course of time, the shutters become brittle when exposed to sunlight for a long time.
