Tales of a South Downs fox... and other ramblings

Portraits of a Lady

After a relatively quiet month of June, the foxes are back with a vengeance. The old fellow turned up during the early evening, but the undoubted star tonight was the bold vixen who arrived about 45 minutes after he had gone. Initially she was shy, retreating to the rear of the garden, but her curiosity overcame her caution and she spent almost 20 minutes in front of the camera, including a brief excursion on to the garage roof.

But she was in the mood for portraits, coming close enough for these to be uncropped shots.

She even took time out to do her nails

And just so he doesn't feel left out, here's the old fellow...

There are several more shots in the July 2008 Fox Gallery. I'll be adding to it (promise!). I got over 130 shots of the foxes tonight :faint:

Camera note: all shots taken with the EF 24-105 F4L IS USM lens.

Fantastic Words! WOW! This is going to be a great place to visit during the month of July from the looks of this entry.

Vulpes, that was quick! She was great tonight :D

Cynthia, I certainly hope so. They can be a bit erratic. I'm fairly sure they were both in the garden yesterday but she didn't hang around. I thought she was going to disappear again tonight, but she changed her mind I'm pleased to say.

Incredible shots, as always! Was it difficult for her to get up on the garage roof?

Words 3. July 2008, 06:23

Lois, it's quite easy for the foxes to get up on the garage but it makes a good photo when they do

José Torres 3. July 2008, 11:35

What she is looking in the garage roof? :D

Words 3. July 2008, 17:35

They jump down the front of the garage to go home!

Adele 3. July 2008, 20:10

I hate to break this to her, but her nails are less striking than the black gloves on her forepaws!

Always nice to see them climbing. I wonder if she was like Chatter as a cub

:up: :lol::lol:

Adele, so true! As for the climbing, it seems to run in the family, but only the old dog fox has taken the diversion from the lower garage roof to the top of the main roof.

Great portraits  She really is a lady.
