Damselfly nymph
A rare visit by a goldfinch
A robin flew in
An even briefer showing by a song thrush
And even a red admiral paused for restCamera note: the damselfly nymph was taken with the Sigma 105mm F2.8 EX DG macro lens and Canon 430EX flash unit (I half-pulled the diffuser out to deflect the light downward). The birds and butterfly were all taken with the EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L USM IS lens.

I take it you couldn't persuade the thrush to look in your direction with its photo

The robin is such a small litle bird.

Ok, October 19th seems to be the latest from last year for a red admiral. I read once that it's the change in traffic patterns that causes it to rain at the weekend. The air cools, and down it comes. Not sure if that's true or not, but it certainly feels like it at times. Mind you today was pretty damp as well.
