I found a good view point looking down the race track. I was shooting slightly into the sun, but had a much longer view down the track from the side I was on due to the bend. I started shooting as they came over the brow of the hill. The camera was set to shoot in jpg format which meant the buffer could cope with virtually indefinite continuous firing at 6 frames a second without locking up (in RAW I get about 16 shots before it slows down and then stalls/stops, which is fine for most wildlife, but not for sports).

At one point it looked as if they are going to run over you :yikes:

Darko, unlike with the terns I was never in any danger this time. Just a good position to take the shot down the track as they came up to the bend.

Thanks Anna! I always enjoy watching them race by.

Very exciting shots  would you go on a horse and race with them? would be fun!

Words 21. August 2009, 20:08

Mark, I don't think they'd let me get on a racehorse. Far too dangerous for the horse!

Andrew 21. August 2009, 20:17

Thanks, very cool!
