Tales of a South Downs fox... and other ramblings

To Boldly Go...

, ,

Well Bold finally put her best (worst?) foot forward tonight. It was tentative and it was slow, but she is now definitely putting some weight on the injured foot. Anything above a gentle step forward and she carries it and does her best imitation of a loping bunny-hop, but it's really good to see some progress at last. It will be interesting to see how rapidly things change (or not) over the next week or so.
A full step on the injured left front leg.

She's still in her curl-up-and-sleep mode, this time on the wood chips which have added 'fox bed' to their main purpose of weed suppression.

No trail cam footage from last night. I forgot to put the data card in it Homer: Doh! No doubt the hedgehogs would have appeared, which is about the best excuse I have for posting this last shot (taken this evening).
Peek-a-boo!

If you go to the front page of the blog you'll see that the annual Blog Action Day is nearly upon us. This year the theme is 'climate change', which is timely as I've noticed it getting colder lately  Click the button for more details.

Camera note: all shots withthe Canon 40D. The fox photos were taken with the EF70-300mm 4.5-5.6 DO IS lens. The hedgehog was snapped with the Sigma 105mm F2.8 EX DG macro lens.

I'm glad she's getting better. I am growing quite fond of her, just from you photos. Which are great by the way!

Robin, thanks. She's one of the gentlest foxes we've known. Very quiet and calm.

Darko, maybe they do. But when Words is 'in' the garden the other foxes stay 'out' :frown:
