Down by the farm...

I'll start with my favourite from yesterday. I've photographed plenty of these on the ground, but they are surprisingly fast in the air. This was the only decent shot I managed as it shot out of the long grass.
Pheasant in flightA small flock of linnets was swooping along the edge of the fields, swirling around and coming back down to rest.
LinnetsI was back in roughly the same location this morning. It was just as cold, but this little lamb didn't seem too bothered. After all, it has a nice warm coat.
Several geese were out and about as well.
And high in a tree, a goldfinch perched and watched.
Camera note: all shots taken with the Canon 40D and EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L USM IS lens.

"but not the bitterly cold wind that has accompanied it." it has been altogether different here- but this hasn't stopped you from finding the beauty out there.

It's cold here; snow is forecast, but it hasn't fallen yet.
