Tales of a South Downs fox... and other ramblings

Seabirds, pond life and a fox

, , , , , , , ,

Where did spring go? Today was shrouded in mist, and tonight has seen constant rainfall. It feels like the clocks have gone forward to autumn, not just a single hour.

First, a gull taken over the garden...

And this afternoon, a (meadow?) pipit...

Some oystercatchers and an interloper...

A fulmar, of course...

Far out at sea, shrouded in mist... a flock flies by (geese? cormorants? I'm not sure)

And a boat slips quietly into view...

Tonight, in the rain a frog guards the spawn...

A newt swims near the surface of the pond...

And the bold vixen sits patiently in the rain...

Geat series of photos! The one with the boat has such an atmosphere!

The birds in the waves' mist and the boat are dreamy.

Very artistic shots - the yacht would make for a nice watercolour! smile I think those are geese; they don't look dark enough to me for cormorants.

Where did spring go?

I don't know. But I'm trying to spin out my Canadian write up as long as possible and hope that the weather sorts itself out by the time I'm done whistle

Mark, I doubt we'll get snow, but I could do with a little less rain at the moment!

Lois, thanks. The boat was shrouded in mist and I had to tweak the levels quite a lot to get it to emerge in the shot.

Cynthia, thanks. I could barely see the birds, just a trail moving in the mist.

Adele, yes cormorants were my first thought but geese seems more likely (shape and number). I think you'll have a few days to finish your write up of the Canadian trip.

I like everything about the gull photograph (#1) and the "flock" and sailboat photos- just dreamy.

Nice pics, love the newt (the kids caught a male and female at work today which was nice).

As for the pipit, it doesn't quite look right for a meadow pipit but to be honest I haven't a clue - one for wab?

Thanks Jill!
