Tales of a South Downs fox... and other ramblings

A Day of Variety

, , , , , ,

After yesterday's buzzard extravaganza, it's time to show a little more of the variety of local bird life. I'll begin with the harbinger of summer, and yes I have seen more than just one of these.
Swallow, taken yesterday

And one of a pair I saw this morning.

I also saw some ducks this morning, not near a pond but out over the fields.
Taken towards the sun

And a more conventional shot

There was also a blackcap, one of the more easily identified warblers

The young rabbits were out in the sunshine at lunchtime

And so were the young squirrels

A mistle thrush was feeding in the grass

And, yes, there were buzzards as well.

Darko, the swallows have only just arrived. There aren't very many yet, but the rest will arrive soon.

Adele, I can't believe you're complaining about cold weather after your treks to Canada! The weather is beautiful here... not that warm yet but about perfect for walking.

Well...as it happens, it's 24c in my Canadian village right now! Meanwhile, it's dropping below freezing in the North Downs at night scared

The temperature is around 7c in the morning, but soon warms up. We're expecting around 20c over the weekend. But that's the benefit of living in the deep south right
