Tales of a South Downs fox... and other ramblings

Animal Behaviour

, , ,

Most animals are pretty reliable, and their behaviour is generally predictable. Yet for all that wildlife watching is a continual source of surprise, difference and delight. Take these three sequences of young animals seen today.

The young ducklings are doing what all young ducklings do when it's raining. They huddle up close to mum.

Herring gulls aren't quite so cuddly, and their young have only each other for warmth. The gulls, incidentally, are several weeks older than the ducklings but are still much less independent.

Fox cubs, on the other hand, enjoy a bit of rough and tumble!

And the odd bit of photography wink

The gulls look a little more reflective than usual! Wonderful shots of the cubs - you're having a great year with them.

Chthonid, he was investigating the Bushnell Trophy Cam. One day he'll figure out what it is. So far it's survived their investigations.

Adele, the gulls were trying to keep dry in a faint drizzle. It was unusual to see them on the front edge of the roof as that's very close to the path where I can photograph them. they looked soooo comfortable. As for the cubs, this year has been the best for quite a long time.
