Tales of a South Downs fox... and other ramblings

Fox, Badger

,

The warm weather (yes, our hide-and-seek summer is back with us for a few days) has certainly brought the garden to life. About half an hour ago I was outside with a lazy fox sleeping at the front of the garden while a young badger munched on peanuts at the back of the garden. Difficult to know which way to point the camera. The fox was Shutterbug.

On most nights he would grab all the attention, but I have to admit that the badger at the top of the garden was incredibly cute. Here are a couple of shots.

Oh, and if that's not enough, earlier in the evening Shy Boy the young fox was also hanging around. He posed for a portrait shot.

All of which has squeezed out everything else I was going to post. But to be honest, I don't care. bigsmile

It is amazing how tame they all are even when you are around bigsmile

They seem very relaxed for animals that must know you're around. Have to say I'm envious at the moment of the plethora of animals you have visiting. My nocturnal expeditions aren't generating a lot of new creatures. Late winter is a tough period.

Nice ones, Words ... that badger looks like a high-quality stuffed toy.

Darko, the younger they are when they first come into the garden, the easier it is. It takes patience. Shy Boy and Shutterbug are by far the most confident.

Chthonid, it's the attraction of food. Badgers dislike movement even more than the foxes, but these are young ones and so probably have a less developed sense of caution. I'm just part of the garden to them.

dW, the second shot of the badger cracked me up. I can see exactly what you mean.

Marilyn, the badger is certainly quite young, probably about 6 months old. Cute as anything!
