Damselfly nymphs

,

Precious few opportunities for photos today so just a couple of shots of the damselfly nymphs to keep the blog moving along. They're getting larger (well some of them are), and are much more active. Whereas a few weeks ago they tended to remain static under the torchlight, I noticed this evening that the larger ones were prone to swim/wriggle away from the light source. But plenty were still reasonably static, including this one conveniently posed for a relatively rare profile image.

On other fronts, I've had a picture selected as Picture of the Day at DPNow. It's one I took last year of a squirrel first thing in the morning. More about the shot on the link. I'm fairly sure I've posted it here in the past, but can't seem to locate the entry at the moment!

Camera note: the damselfly nymphs were photographed with the Sigma 105mm F2.8 EX DG macro lens. The squirrel was captured with the EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L USM IS lens.
