GREY CROWNED CROCIAS CROPS UP IN NEWLOCATION.....

One of the birds In Vietnam, has just been discovered at a new location In Kon Tum Province significantly extending Its know global range and offering hope that the species may not be as threatened with extinction as scientists fear. Grey crowned Crocias langhianbis Is one of the least know birds In Asia,It was first described by a Swedish aristocrat,Count Gyldenstople In 1939 from three specimens collected at an unknown locality by young adventurer . For over 50 years here were no further records until It was rediscovered by jonathan Eames,le Trong Trai and Nguyen Cu at Chu Yang Sin National Park In 1994.the species Is currently considered endangered by IUCN. On 19 March 2012 a professional bird tour leader, was at Mang Den In Kon Tum province, when he first heard and then saw a pair of Grey crowned Crocias. Soon after arrival at the side there has be recognised by song and call, also a song recording was made, the pair have be observed . This the first time this globally endangered and little known species and has been recorded In Kon Tum Province. Thats a beautiful return of a bird that was lost.

catseopcat Monday, April 9, 2012 2:57:08 PM

but all their nests disappear with renovation of farms or houses !
LPO ( Bird Protection Society) say you must protected them but don't think to oblige people to let one little hole in the new roof
it's stupidity

catseopcat Monday, April 9, 2012 3:16:14 PM

no flat roof , but I have made a hole ( not IN the roof Under is better) in the wall but ... ready steady go !!! it's a couple of starlings than occupies it every year mad
