My Unpredictable Mind

Goals

If you walked up to a stranger on the street and asked a simple question "What is your main goal in life?", what kind of response do you think you would get back? The majority of young people would respond with "to get through college and find a good job". If you asked a man in a suit, you would most likely get a "to be successful in business". However, does anybody sit back and analyze their life and their goals?

In this day and age life is hard. It is hard to get a decent job, especially with freshly released graduates having to work at McDonalds or Burger King because of the shortage of jobs. This creates new goals, such as getting a better job with more hours or that pays more. Do these people really want to work their entire lives at a counter taking other people's orders or in a cubicle punching numbers mindlessly into a machine? Then when they do make some money, enough to actually pay bills and have more left over, what do people buy? Big screen tv's, expensive purses, luxurious body wash. Is this the goal in life, to work your whole life just in order to give your money to somebody else for something that you never really need, that will eventually break and you will have to buy a new one?

What is the real goal in life? Is it to have nicer things than the next person? Is it to be able to spoil your children into being completely dependant on you for everything? Is it to work for the rest of your life in order to pay the government most of it and get nothing back in return? In this society you are not free, you simply pay for your rights through your job, having children, and providing for your family. Lets say you buy a house for your family, which is technically considered a necessity. You pay property taxes to the government, which in turn means you pay for the right to own something, on top of paying for the property itself. Lets say you and your wife/husband want to buy a car, which is necessary for you to get to and from work. You must pay for a license, vehicle insurance, and also a fee to the DMV for vehicle registration. So in turn you are paying for the right to own and use a car, on top of the price you paid to buy the actual vehicle. Does this seem fair?

We pay income taxes, registrations, state taxes, federal taxes, and countless other fees to the government so they can spend it to redecorate the white house and for the president to take his family wherever he wants, wasting jet fuel. We pay the government to give us the right to work at a minimum wage job because the economy is horrible.

After all this, I ask you, What is your goal in life?
