Last week I went for work reasons to Hermosillo the capital city of the state of Sonora, it is a 600,000 (estiamte) people, the city the largest of the state and the name means something like "little beauty" and the people is very nice, kind and the girls are pretty.
When asking the extremely expensive cabs what to do in the city, they answered "nothing" the nice part was the hotel zone with the nightclubs that are just like any other club, or that I could go to Bahía Kino (beach town an hour from there)
The downtown is a dead zone after 6:00pm, there is no cultural activity (this in words of the citizens) and the restaurant options are Meat, Chinese, McDonald's like and Meat.
I forgot some clothing for two days so I asked for a Shopping Center, there is only one, Plaza Sendero, and not very pretty, when asked for the mall they told me first of supermarkets, because there use to be no malls.
For business trips, the city is fine it has a nice new Convention Center (well it has like 5 years), good size. The hotels are nice and plenty options, located in the hotel zone which is the cool part of the city, I also liked the coffee store Caffenio.
Nextel en Mexico no tiene nada que ver con Nextel en los Estados Unidos.
Nextel te ofrece telefonía celular y principalmente radio, pero tienen la peor cobertura, el peor precio, los telefonos más feos, y lo peor de todo, el peor servicio, y hacen lo imposible para que no canceles.
Mi familia compro unos nextel, después de un tiempo nos arrepentimos, es demasiado caro, y la cobertura demasiado mala, cuando intentamos cancelar, fuimos a las oficinas donde firmamos contrato, te dan todo y demás, estando ahí nos dicen que la única forma de cancelar es por teléfono, lo cual accedimos, nos fuimos y lo intentamos.
Haciendo la primer llamada la operadora trato de convencernos por todos los medios de no dejar nextel, su chamba, ofreciendonos planes mejores y mejor precio, planes que no existen en sus listas publicas (fraude) pero después de una hora de decir No, e inistir en que queríamos cancelar nos dice finalmente que nos pasará al departamento de cancelación y en eso se corta la llamada, la primera vez pensamos que fue un error, lo hicimos de nuevo muchas veces y siempre era lo mismo, choro de la señorita para no dejar nextel decirnos que si, y cortar la llamada.
Hartos de esto decidimos ir de nuevo a las oficinas para decirles y mostrarles que era imposible cancelar, al ver que era cierto, nos dicen que hagamos una carta, con miles de documentos y cosas, peor que en oficina de gobierno, nos vamos lo hacemos volvemos y es lo mismo, "no se puede cancelar en la oficina, solo por teléfono"
Lo malo es que Nextel tiene tu número de tarjeta de crédito para cobrarte, y lo hace cada mes, y no sabemos que hacer, vamos al banco y nos dicen, "para el problema con nextel lo que hacemos es cancelar su tarjeta y emitir una nueva con todos sus datos e historial" imaginen el tamaño del problema que el banco tiene una solución para sus clientes.
EVITEN NEXTEL A TODA COSTA, es el peor servicio, es caro, mala cobertura, y teléfonos feos, y lo peor de todo el peor servicio al cliente y solo retienen a sus clientes a fuerza, eso no es justo.

In Mexico Nextel has nothing to do with Nextel in the USA.
Nextel offers the service of cellphone and radio or PTT, they have the worst coverage of all the providers, also they are the most expensive, everytime you end paying more even if you only use two minutes.

I believe that sales of the iPhone in Mexico are not as good as predicted by telcel people. They cut the price, of both, the contracted and no contract phones.
The one with contract is now $50 usd ($649 pesos) but with a two year contract of $100 usd
The "amigo" without contract is $800 usd or $9500 pesos
This is in the case of the 16gb version.
The nokia tube 5800 will cost $5000 pesos without a contract or like $400 and can do so much more. I just hope that it will be free with contract or very cheap.
Long time since my last post about Gallos Blancos, but they are better than ever, and it seems that the corrupt Femexfut has notice the importance of Queretaro as a football city.
It is time to ascend to the premiere mexican league once more, and hopefully stay there. The owners of other team, Necaxa are considering to move the team to Queretaro. But ye already have the Gallos!
The most iconic rock band of Mexico, the "TRI" that was born in 1968 is getting 40 years of playing, music that everybody knows, and believe it or not, every single mexican know the lyrics or at least the chorus of the big hits from them.
40 years!
And they are celebrating big way, and on the celebration way Queretaro is located, October 29 and 30th will be the date of the anniversary concert in the football (soccer) stadium "La Corregidora" in which Alex's Lora band "El Tri" will be playing with the state philarmonic orchestra, that is something worht listen, and since this is the kind of person that devotes for the music, I bet the ticket will be at a fair price.
As I mentioned before, I went to the concert on October 2nd in the state auditorium in Queretaro, the concert was sold out, so 7,000 people was there with me.
My initial plan was to arrive by cab, but some friends decided to drive there, why I didn't drive myself?... well the auditorium parking lot is big, but has only two entrances, and ot find a parking space, and then at the end to wait in the mess to leave the place, is not my favorite thing.
The logistics to enter was a total caos, the auditorium has like 9 entrances, but the organicers decided to use only two, and one was for men and the other for women, and only a person per time, so each could be checked by the security staff. So it took like an hour to enter the auditorium, making line in the cold (well cool night) was not ideal, since I arrived with some friends, women and men.
The concert, was really good, the croud behave really nice, like in a big party, everybody dancing and chanting, Manu Chao is a real good entertainer, he truly love to sing and be with the people.
Since the place was full it was a great ambient, and I have the chance to find other friends there, or people I knew from other parts. Even the boss of my boss was there.
I went to Mexico city this friday, for work reasons, I visited two companies that are our providers of some trade show stuff, they are located in the "colorful" neighborhood Iztapalapa, is one of the dangerous areas of the city, which means, poor, ugly, dirty and more probable to be robbed.
Some members of my family (the kind your grand parents told you are family but you don't see the connection) lived there for a while, then moved to Queretaro, they are the stereotypical chilango in all senses, accent, actions, behavior and so on.
I arrived in cab with both companies, (to their warehouses) both ugly, and since it was my first time there, I wasn't sure the cab leave me in the correct place, but I have to look confident, like "I'm local" confident, in order to avoid being a target of the robbers.
Well my getting to my point, this is a "paper store" (where you can buy pencils, paper and all kind of stuff you need for school) and has a full cage, because they where robbed in several ocassions, it is the first time I see a paper store that had this, I have seen licor stores (24hr stores) that has this, but never a simple paper store with iron bars.
It is becoming hard to keep track of all concerts in Queretaro, also because the "Cervantino" art festival is coming this month, and there are many other concerts and events lately.
I'm arriving from Manu Chao's concert, which was great, the state auditorium "Josefa Ortíz de Dominguez" was full, all the 7,000 seats sold, great ambient.
Well the note I'm posting is about the MTV Bridge which comes to Mexico thanks to the MTV Music Awards Latin America that are taking place in Guadalajara, this are like the third or fourth awards that take place in Mexican soil (from MTV)
In the festival are performing new bands that appear on MTV (mexican version):
