XpressMusic vs Walkman

Recently I cahnged my mobile for a Nokia XpressMusic. Nokia in many ways is leading in innovation, Sony Ericsson is good in the music, and a few years ago they had the most innovative products, now they are like catching up.

I'm going to compare the music player since I had a Sony Ericsson W960 (walkman phone) and now I use a Nokia XpressMusic phone.

The sound quality is impressive in both handsets, Nokia has stereo speakers so it is a win here in the external speakers, also Nokia has a 3.5mm jack, which means any headphones fit, another win for Nokia, but, the UI of the Nokia player is really bad, they improve little with time, the list of songs is really slow to show, you can not see album art in the album list, you can't see which song will be next in the shuffle mode, there is no magic play list like the "sense me", rated songs or per year or decade.

Also I miss the TrackID, a great function that I loved, and I wanted yesterday while I was listening the radio there was a great song.

The phone has a lot of functions and possibilities, and since it is a Nokia, it has a great support for software, but the player, which is the reason of the phone, has a lot to improve. Kudos to Sony Ericsson doing such a great player for their phones.

I'm wating for Sony Ericsson new smartphone family based in S60 with touch screen capabilities, great cameras and impressive player, to go back with them.

Sony Ericsson by far, even the bluetooth stereospeakers sounded better in the sony ericsson

I have a nokia xpressmusic too, but I think w705 has better sound, plus the control of bluetooth speakers that lacks Nokia. I like nokia because it has 3.5mm jacks.

hello i am from estonia...great country..only russians are kind a annoying.. writes: nokia is best..:Dreally..i have nokia 5800..music is really HQ ..and it beats every SE walkman phone..walkman has maybe better music playes..but its no use if they have terrible music quality speakers.. nokias 3.2mpx camera phones beats crap out of the SE 8mpx..:D software is waaaaaaaay better than SE..i hate SE OS

One thing I really don't like about Nokia phones, my Nokia 5800, N85 and N97 is how slow is the player, to open the entire song list is a pain, it takes like 3 minutes to be able to see all the songs, and to open the lists, it takes like 30 seconds, to react and show my available lists. While SE phones manage this better, the entire song list opens instantly, and so do the lists, I'm talkin list of over 2000 songs, or more, if there are only 100 songs Nokia's are fast too, but this are media smartphones so they should work better in that aspect.
I think SE uses a previously created Data Base (when updating songs it takes long but only once) with the songs and Nokia built a Data Base every time I open the player app.
