Today I went to downtown historic disctrict, to see some theater, there is the alternative theater international festival, but also I went to a local theater "La Casona del Árbol" a small theater to see the play "Departamento de Soltero" (Single guy apartment) a comedy of a divorced college professor who has a gay friend that just fight with his partner at a disguise party (the gay guy is dressed as a priest) the guy that fix everything in the apartment building, the wife of mister fix it, a college student who has a crush on her professor so she go to his place to "read" books, and a friend of the professor who happends to be a young twenty something girl who just broke up with his boyfriend (whom she used to life with), I almost forgot, the crazy hot sister of the profesor who wants sex no mater what or with whom.
So the comedy elements are very obvious, the story is not very original, the professor starts to lie to everybody and trying ot keep everybody hidden to the others, except his gay friend who is helping him, pretending to be a priest.
I spent good time laughing, which made the play worth, the actors are good at improving their act and their mistakes to made the play funnier, but still is not the smartest of the humor and has a character that is worthless (the professor sister) whose only part in the play is trying to have sex with the gay friend.
I like that they used spanish names, or real ones, in other plays they tend to use names like "John" instead of Juan, talking about "5th avenue" instead of "Av. Zaragoza" making reference that the play took place in some place like NY, but in this play they made reference to local stuff, making it obvious that it happend in Queretaro, which helps to identify with the play.
The price of the tickets is $120.00 pesos ($12.00 usd) which is fair, not cheap, not expensive, in the entrance of the theater they claim to accept credit card, which they don't. In the theater entrance there is a bar (that you need to cross to reach your seat) called "Back Stage" which is a good place to spent some time before the play starts or after it ends.
If you want some fun, it is worth and recommended, you will have a good time.
