Veracruz

Veracruz 2008 Nov (76), originalmente cargada por Yorch Arturo.

For work reasons I went to the city and port of Veracruz, it is, in my humble opinion, the best beach city in Mexico, is not touristic, which in Mexico means it is a real city, Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Acapulco, any other beach town you think of is like Disneyland, fake, great but fake, why, well everything is about the tourist, the mexican food is so fake in those places, over mexicanized, while this city is large, like a million people, and the economy is diversify, industry, port, tourism, commerce, petroleum (pemex) and other stuff too.

I stay in the metro area of Boca del Rio, 10km from the downtown, I walk that one day thinking it was a shorter distance.

I truly say that of the beach towns and cities this is the only one I could live, because it is a real city, with all the things yo need of a city, and an affordable price (Cancun, Pto Vallarta and others are so overprice)

Visit it if yo can, it is a good place to be.

Three days on the beach

, ,

I went to Ixtapa in the mexican state of Guerrero last week, for three days, the reason of my trip wasn't spring break, nor vacationing, it was work, but I had the afternoons and one day I got the morning free, so I was able to wen to the beach, to walk around and have some nice time.

It sounds great righ... well no. Going to the beach totally alone, no friends, or girlfriend and being sorounded by old people (since spring break ended old folks arrive) is no party, the other young people around was still using dipers, may be they got like 10 years old, I'm 26 (ouch!) so I was looking for people more aproched to my age, from 20 to 30 years old, and single or without kids.

Well at least I took some sunbath, well actually a little bit, since I didn't change color (I'm naturaly tanned) my "t-shirt" line was erased which is great.

Also taking photos alone in the beach can be depresing, next time I'll make sure to invite someone.

At least I went to the beach, I'm going back to the same hotel in august, but this time with family (cousins).

Mexico City Beach

, , ,

Mexico City the capital of my beloved country is located in the center of the country in the middle of mountains at 2000m above sea level, but since april 3th it has beaches.

The goverment of the city created artificial beaches with a cost of $200,000usd in order to provide a place to have fun in vacations, the beaches are free to everybody and according to the media 100,000 people has visited them.

The good point is, fun for free, and chilangos that no need to leave the city to go to the beaches, of course is no the same but it's nice.

The bad point, well it is very expensive, $200,000usd in tax money to have the people entertain, I hope the goverment put some stores in there in order to get some money back, or some plan to recover that investment and also made the places self sustainable, or else the beaches are going to be completly destroyed in a few years because of the lack of budget. They should consider to charge a symbolic fee, something like $10.00 pesos per person (less than a dollar) and $5.00 pesos per child. Also some charge for extra services and stuff, like a store with food, a store with beach stuff (t-shirts, balls, sunscreen, and other stuff), rental of towels, everything very affordable in order to help the beaches to stay nice and in good shape.
