No more DRM please

, ,

I downloaded the Nokia Music software and with that access to the store, which is quite nice, the software crashes very often.

I bought several songs, and full albums, the price seems right, less than $0.99, but I play them and pass them to my mobile, in the phone, when playing for the first time, the phone connects to the internet (that is bad, because maybe I don't have a data plan) and download the license, in most of the songs it download the license correctly, but in three song it failed putting a message that I "Don't have permission" to hear the song, so I opened the store software in the phone and re-download the same songs (good thing you can re-download) but there where problems with the server, so the songs couldn't be download that moment, I tried later and it was fine.

Later I bought some songs from the phone, I was in a nightclub and wanted that song I was hearing, it downloaded fine and played fine, then I got the same problem while passing the song to the PC, not having permission, after a few try it worked.

Later I decided to burn CD with all the songs and then rip them to MP3 in order to be able to do whatever I want with my songs, but then the DRM server problem arise once more.

Finally I tryed to buy two songs, it started fine, but the download never completed, some strange error in the PC software, then tried doing it in the mobile, it worked, but it was then the pain of passing them to the PC...

Why the Record Labels insist in the DRM, c'mon is a pain to "play" them and the first thing I want to do everytime I buy a song from Nokia store is to burn it in CD in order to rip it as an MP3.

DRM exist and piracy remains and grows, so we can conclude that, that is not the answer.

Also, please NOKIA fix your servers, you have very frequent problems with them.

Digital Music Stores

,

I'm trying to give a chance to our Mexican digital music stores, since iTunes, Zune, Amazon or any other don't work here, exclusive to the USA, or some other countries. I'm looking to a CD of Miranda, an Argentinian pop band. The cost per son is $13.00 pesos which are like $1.18 usd, little more than in the US stores, and the cost of the CD is $156.00 pesos $14.18 usd but the cost of the same CD in a music store, original is of $145.00 pesos which are $13.18usd. It is cheaper to buy the original CD in a store than buying it in electronic format, plus I get a CD, the booklet, and no DRM. So why to buy online when I can get the same cheaper and better.

How the Greed stole the music

, , ,

Once upon a time in a world named earth...

Seriously, why the music industry is doing it's best to destroy the music industry, firs the CopyControlled Discs that played in some CD players, although they cost the same and claim to be the same, now they want more money from internet radio statios that promote their music, since it is almos impossible to save the music you heard from those stations, so I don't see the piracy precaution, just greed, the same green that made the users buy or download piracy.

When the music industry is going to get it, affordable music sell more, volume!!

Imagine in 1995 Mexico experience a really hard crisis, Tequila effect, so the cost of a CD went from $100.00 pesos to $250.00 or $300.00, from being the 8th biggest market in the music industry, sales went down for legal music, but piracy grew incredible, the same CD with the same quality for just $50.00 pesos, then it was $20.00 pesos, right now you can get a pirat CD for $15.00 pesos. Instead of reducing costs the labels start to increase price in order to get more of the loyal customers. Long story short, after 10 years they learned part of the leson, the CD are back at $150.00 or $100.00 when new releases, and less than $99.00 after a few months, still more expensive than piracy, that has the same quality and no Copycontrolled stuff.

DVD's are more smart now, they begin costing like $500.00 pesos, in 1995 or so, time passes nobody bought DVD players or DVD's because they where way to expensive, $7000.00 pesos for a DVD player and $500.00 each movie, suddenly stores with tons of stock of movies begin to import chinese DVD players that cost less than $600.00 pesos, and with each DVD player they give for free 2 DVD movies (this was in 2000 or so). Now the movies from several studios when new cost $100.00 pesos and after a few months you can get them for less than $69.00 pesos. Universal Studios was the first in reducing pricing.

Reduce price, be more accesible do not try to get everysingle penny your customer had, or they will cheat on you!.

I'm against piracy, but also I'm against abuse!

Famous People

, , ,

In my flight back to Mexico from Miami I saw two of the three guys of Reik, we where on the same plane, and obviously on the same gate, my friend notice them, I actually am very bad to notice celebrities, since his girlfriend (of my friend) is a big fan of them he knows him, so he says, so I went next to them with my mobile a took a photo, then using the mobile downloaded a photo of the band and compare it, they where the guys of reik, and to make it easier to notice them they where playing songs... well one of them was, and the other was doing something in a MacBook. Looking in Google I think they are Jesús Navarro and Julio Ramírez.

By the way, I thought that all celebrites travel in first class, they don't they where in tourist class.

With them my celebrity list I have seen live in casual moments increases.

The photos...

This is the one I found on the internet.

This is the one I took.

Music Store officialy dead

, , ,

Audioadicto.com (audioadict) was the first digital music store in Mexico, the one I used, it sell MP3 files without DRM just with a watermark for $0.90usd or $10.00 pesos. It was open in 2004 created by Samsung for the Yepp music players, later in 2005 Samsung sold the store to someone else, and in 2005 and 2006 many big media companies started to create their own digital music stores (beon.com, tarabu.com, esmas.com, prodigymedia.com) being property of big media power houses audioadicto couldn't compete, eventhough they where the cheapest and more compatible, since they sold MP3 files not WMV with DRM or Real with DRM.

I'm going to give a chance to beon.com, to see how it goes.

Jazz

, , ,

I actually am a fully ignorant of Jazz, I know there is a lot of people who seriously love it and have a cult, I must confess that practicaly until today I never hear Jazz, I listened some in movies, but not really paying attention to it. Today the Universidad Autonoma de Queretaro (Autonomous Queretaro University) had a concert in "Jardín de los Perritos" infront of the governor palace it was really good, I liked Jazz!

Some friends told me that there are bars in the city that have live Jazz shows everyday.
