Contradictions in religion

I'm posting about religion, an always hot topic, is nothing personal.
I'm catholic just like 95% of mexicans, so I'm not very different or original, and contrary to the USA media belief, catholics are not as devoted as show in tv, at least not in Mexico, my city in particular, 92% of the people is catholic, but only 17% goes to church on sundays.
Well there are something when "we" are very religious, instead of spring break, we have "holy week" and 40 days befor we have the "vigilia" time when on fridays is forbiden to eat meat, only fish (some says that chicken too, but I think both are meat, just other animal) so I change that, it is forbiden to eat, beef, pork, lamb and other red meat... there is an exception, the poor people is allow, according to the mexican church authorities, to eat meat (if they can afford it, cmon!!)
So there are a lot of people not eating red meat, respecting that "rule", I remember what a very good priest told me, "if you want to eat meat, go and eat it, it is better not to eat our brothers" refering that we respect a silly rule while cheating, robbing, and doing terrible stuff to other people "eating them"
Why we respect that "rules" and not the 10 important ones, not kill, not rob, not damage the others in any way!
The other day I take gasoline in a station, and when return to the street a guy tryed to change lanes, I just enter the one he wanted to change to, so he didn't saw me, and suddenly he used the honk, I was ok, sorry!, suddenly he started to attacked me! moving his truck against me like trying to scare me, I was scare, but I didn't move the car an inch, suddenly he passed me and started to stop his truck making signs with his hand, I was really scared, so I cheat him and lost him, I was scare, there are a lot of crazy stressed people out there, he tryed to "damage" me, ON THE VIGILIA, and probably he didn't eat meat on friday, but tryed to hurt me!
By the way this time is the GOLDEN time for the seafood restaurants, sales are really UP!, even McDonald's and those places got special seafood menus.
