Europe, mexico, Eurocup, Soccer

I truly believe that the second most important sport event in the world, after the World Cup is the EuroCup, why, lets be honest European football is beautiful, full of technique, speed, action!, and sometimes some agression (Zidane in the final of the WorldCup)
And like me many mexicans do believe that, the Eurocup is bigger than the olimpics, in Mexico people see the olimpic opening with the big show, lights and the torch, but that is all.
Last sunday I was in the mall when the match Spain vs Italy started, I was supporting Spain (cultural reasons) and as I all the others did, we where cheering for the spanish team, and they win in an incredible game, that lasted a lot, with no goals, and great performance, and finnally no more extra time, it was decided in the penalty round, even there it was impresive.

Hugo Sanchez the former trainer of the mexican football team was fired on monday, I'm glad, he was a great football player, some says he is the best mexican player (may be they are right) that is why his ego grew to incredible proportions.
He is an average trainer, but his big mouth is only smaller than his ego, so that put him in trouble. He took care of the team and did nothis special, the same old mediocre results, and what is worst, he didn't do anything to go to the omplic games, and the golden cup and some other stuff.
When he was named to be in charge of the team I wasn't happy, neither angry, why?... I knew he didn't last, I knew that he was going to do a bad job in the olympic games in this case in teh path to the games, and since in football the WorldCup is more importat he was not going to be in the path to it or in it.
So long Hugo, I'm sure some team will pick you up, and just like with Pumas, only to sell more tickets to the stadium since you are a good show (a legend as a player), but an average trainer.
By the way his bosses the "football presidents club" called him "AN OLYMPIC FAILURE" (ouch!) I hope he takes this in a good way, and finally learn from mistakes and poot the feet on the ground.
Everytime he failed he claim that "in his mind they win" so that shows his lack or reality.

Mexico went with the Football Selection Sub 23 team to the USA to get a ticket to the Olympic Games in Beijing.
In our group there was Canada, Haiti and Guatemala (and Mexico of course)
Well Mexico did the worst possible, losing against Guatemala, tie with Canada and only wining to Haiti 5-1 when the game was for 10-0
Who has the fault?
- The players: they are (not all of them) the world champions of the sub 17 world cup in Peru, they grow their ego so much due to the media and fans like myself treating them like almost gods, they where asked to play in european teams and get paid over $60,000 usd per month!! So they forget about the game and started to think as stars.
- The trainer: the greatest mexican footballer, but the worst trainer, he did nothing with the players, in the preparation games they sucked and instead of doing something to improve, they stay just the same.
So we are not going to the omlympiad, we deserve it, having a big team of "divas" insted of footballers.
I'm angry, they are probably the greatest set of players at that age united to represent Mexico, and did nothing!! So our hopes of someday winning the world cup can be delay a little bit more, since they are not going to do it.

You may remember my rant against the mexican "selected" team, they played as bas as possible here in Queretaro against Ecuador, and I said that "if that is how they are going to play, we are not going to the olympiads" and... I was right.
They sucked big time, in a tie against Canada, a country known for the hockey not soccer, and against Guatemala they lost BIG TIME!!!
Hugo Sanchez the team couch is blaming the media and the people, not the bad work he and his players are doing, if he and the team don't recognized how bad they played they will never improve.
So the team is not going to be present in Beijing, only if they pay the trip as audience.

Ecuador won the match 1-0 with a great goal, the only good thing in the match.
The game was full of the worst example of football from both squads, Mexico did nothing, bad passes, bad games, the players where frigthened to try to score a goal, at times I even thought they didn't know where they have to shoot. Total caos was Mexico's national team sub 23, the game was BORING all the first half, I was falling sleep (it is true) in the stadium. The funniest part of the game was the mid time show.
Ecuador's national team was really rude, extremly rude kicking the players not the ball, and the referee did nothing at all, also they played loosing time, taking a lot of time to simply kick the ball, and the fell all the time in the grass and the paramedics arrived and take the out of the field and instead of being treated the simply where on their foot again, loosing time!!! I knew that water in Queretaro has miracle healing powers, the paramedics give the ecuatorians water and they were heal and fine in SECONDS!
The Mexican team was so bad that the people at the stadium, myself included, started to boo them and the trainer Hugo Sanchez and in some parts we even cheer Ecuador, we paid a lot to see them and they played the worst possible.
Today on media the players of Mexico were asking for a better atittude towards them from the fans, well I ask for PLAYING!!! you are pay to game, and you didn't do that, you just where on the field, and did NOTHING AT ALL.
I'm really angry, it was expensive, boring, bad football and then the players complain for the fans!

In Queretaro we have the forth largest football stadium in the country, it has a capacity of 50,000 people seated, also Queretaro is a medium size coming to be large city with 1,000,000 people living in, and an influence area of other 500,000 people. The stadium is one of the most expensive ones in Mexico, charging $30.00 usd for the cheap seats, and still it gets full.
Even considering this facts, the FEMEXFUT hates Queretaro badly, don't know why, but other cities with smaller population, smaller stadiums and cheaper seats had preference from FEMEXFUT and what its worse, this is the first time the National Team will be playing in Queretaro, and it is not the major National Team but the sub 23, the ones that go to the Olympics.
Today it is the historic match, and I'm going, with my friends, to cheer up Mexico, a friend of mine is half Mexican half from Ecuador, so he will be cheering both, and he can celebrate whomever wins.

Mexican national teams should play always like this, winning, doing their best, and always trying to score, always. the U20 team has shown mexicans that it is only matter of effort and want to win. They go to the field with the idea of winning and scoring as much as possible, while previously the major team proved to be on field to cash some money, to score a few goals, show some technique in order to let the media say "They play better than ever" but they always manage to disapoint the country, somehow.
Yesterday was a great day for our national football pride, winning 6-0 against Paraguay and 2-1 agains New Zealand (ok New Zealand sucked in football but it was a winning) the U20 is undefeatable so far.
Good job!!! Great games!!! It SHOULD always be like this, it is possible, erase the "loser" idea in your minds and you can do it.

Mexico is now playing at the America Cup, which is not the USA cup, is of the continent (the entire continent is America) before this our national team was playing at the Gold Cup which is for North America (From Canada to Panama, so it is not only the USA either) on the Gold Cup Mexico get to the finals, which is always great, but it lose against the USA (why o why!!!???) with an ending score of 2-1
Now in the begining of the America Cup many of mexican "stars" went mad agains the trainer of the team (Hugo Sanchez, very arrogant) so they decided no to play, and other star get hurt and couldn't play either. Mexico beat Brazil (world cup five times champion) with a score of 2-0
This made me angry more than proud... why? well that shows that Mexico was capable of beating the USA an be Gold Cup champion, once more, and also because, our "so called" stars in soccer are really old and like to be treated like divas, they are not worthy, and the trainer should seek for newcomers so they could play in the cups that are important but not as much as the world cup, youg guys, so they get international experience and be ready to the World Cup and in that way avoid 40 years old Diva players in our team.

Again mexicans are in a shame, our so powerful FEMEXFUT again show up to be useless in order to help to have great football, they act based on the biggest wallet, not for the best of the sports, I always wonder "why Mexico never win a world cup?" how is going to be possible if the regulating body for the football doesn't care to improve the football, and only care to make money for themselves, destroying teams that they don't like because they don't produce more money, even if there is a posibility in the future that new teams can be huge great player craddles.
They don't care about obeying the rules, they want money, in 1988 they (Femexfut) sent older boys to a child world cup, because they get paid, and we, the fans, pay the price of not having Mexico in the 1990 World Cup. In 2005 Femexfut lie and hide information about the junkies Carmona and Galindo, both from the same team, that seems to be as corrupt as the FEMEXFUT, this two so called "players" used drugs to improve their game, so they face a sanction.
Now two years later the super junkie Carmona is again in the same problem, using drugs, and this time again the FEMEXFUT hide the information, giving it only to the club, but the club Cruz Azul ignore it, and the sanction this time is to be banned for life, so Carmona is not suppose to play football again in his life, probably he didn't played at all in his life, it was work of the drugs, not his. Still the club put him on a match and they lost the game and because they didn't obey, they are out of the finals no matter what. Why they used a player that was banned by the FIFA itself, because they thought to leave whitout a problem because they have the money to pay the FEMEXFUT, but the FEMEXFUT is scared to be sanction again like in 1988.
As you can see, Mexican football is full of corruption, corruption that worked against my team in two consecutive ocassions because my team is not rich enough for the FEMEXFUT. I hope someday somebody cleanup all the mess that is FEMEXFUT. For the good of the sport.

Sadly Queretaro's football team lose today in Guadalajara against Atlas, but lets sumarize what happend.
1.- Queretaro arrived at the premier league in Mexico
2.- Pumas was in trouble to descend to 1a league and since Queretaro was new didn't have any points so it started at the descend list too, in order to help Pumas, Femexfut (corrupt body that regulate mexican football) stole 3 points from Queretaro changing the rules in the middle of the tournament.
3.- Queretaro played well in that season and ended in the middle of the general table, ended in that place because of the 3 points stolen.
4.- The new season started again Queretaro being a new guy in the premier have less points, and this time Santos was in trouble to descend, now the Femexfut don't care to much for Santos, until Grupo Modelo bought the team, Grupo Modelo is sponsor of most of the teams so almost all the club presidents that control Femexfut (corruption = Femexfut) decided that Santos should not descend and Queretaro will, so many many many referee decitions where made against Queretaro, anuling goals, penalties, and others.
5.- Again Queretaro performed average, win all the local games and ended in the middle of the general table, so, for a new comer it was a good thing, but not in Mexican football in which the descend table was created to protect historic teams with mediocre results, because if you play well in a season ending in the top 5 you can be the worst team in the next five seasons without worrying, while a new average team fighting to get a place and grow start at the end of the table even though they get more points that many others.
6.- Santos which was in danger to go down to 1a league is now in the play offs... HOW!! well it is the corruption at its best, the old rich club presidents created a sistem in which 10 of the 18 teams go to play offs and have a chance to be champions even though they had a very bad performance in the normal season.
Here the general table of results of the last two seasons, as you can see Queretaro is not the worst team, but still is going down to the 1a league. Is it fair? is it the best system?
By the way in the season of 2006 Queretaro had 21 points not 18, but the Femexfut decided to take 3 of them!
