Mexican versions

, ,

In the past week I notice the mexican versions of TV shows and movies, made famous in the USA, for example "The Nanny" there is a mexican version that takes place in Mexico City with a rich family tha lives in Polanco (exclusive neighborhood), "Desperate Housewives" this one looks like a soup opera (telenovela) very bad production and actually has Disney money in it, and last a mexican High School Musical "El Desafio" with different lyrics, instead of basketball it is football (soccer for those in the USA).

I remember in the early 90's cable tv had some shows in spanish but not all, even Cartoon Network, while now the Cartoon Network has it's Mexican version, the one we watch, also Nickelodeon plus they had mexican shows in the channel produced by Nickelodeon, MTV, VH1, Discovery, History, and so on.

I guess we are a big market for those companies, in order for them to re-produce show with mexican actors and locations.

I like it, it may help to give a push to the local cinema and tv creation, Hollywood is not entirely original, they take many ideas from movies around the world, also tv series.

By the way, my college help in the production of the mexican "High School Musical"
