Three years in the job

, ,

Yesterday was my third anniversary working for the marketing department in Sika, three years! so fast, I remember I started this blog little before I work for the first time as a graduate, so my first posts are those of a nex to graduation student, and now I'm three years worker.

I don't know if is good to be so long in a job, as a single guy without debts I have a chance of a life, not forced to stay on any job, also there is a lot of job offers but they pay little money, almost the same as when I worked half time.

It is impressive how fast things happend, three years, and I'm in need of counsel, am I alright? is it good to stay that long in the same company?... I think my doubts are pretty obvious to my bosses (two of them) since I got asked, how much for you not to leave?... also the sales manager of the biggest zone in the country asked me to move with him, but I don't likes sales, I like marketing, and I think I'm good at it.

How long is good long in a job, in a company, and how do you now is time to move on?? I afraid of moving (resign) to search another job and not find anything better, since I truly belive that everything always has to move forward, not backward.

Money is not an issue, I'm more in "experience of life" or profesional progress, I want to learn, to progress in projects, in responsabilities, not money (well not today).

Three years! is shocking for me, so long, I spent in college 4.5 years, almost the same of job!

By the way I went to my college this week, we sponsored an event there, it was nostalgic to see it, to be there, to seat in the Plazas, eat in the cafeteria, was happy and sad at the same time, how many things changed in my school in three years.

Free blackberries for the students

, , ,

In my college there is a program that ir sponsored by RIM (the creators of the blackberries) and consists of giving free blackberries to students for study purposes with an unlimited internet access account from Iusacell (3g).

Why good things happen when I'm not longer there?

Toefl exam

, ,

Today I presented my Toefl exam, something I did two years ago so my old score is no longer valid. I am worried that my mex score will cd lower and because of that I will not be able to study a master in other country.

The maximum possible score is 670 last and I need 530 to apply at any college. But to get financial aid I need over 600.

Campus Tour

, , , ...

It is time for me to show you my college, the entire campus of the Tec de Monterrey in Queretaro

The Rectory Building, where the headmaster and the managment body works (the big bosses of the campus)

The Cafeteria "A la Carte" and the "Borrego Express" is a restaurant and a simple candy, chips, soda, coffee store. There is another cafeteria on the other side of the bulding, the most common type, the one you are in line and serve the food of the day for $3.00usd

One of the Business School buildigns and gardens, here are located the campus memorabilia store and the book store.

The Biological Science building, where people that studies biochemistry, and other bio stuff study.

The Media Building, where the school of communications and marketing have some courses, there is a radio station, tv studio and gezel chamber in there. The garden infront is named "Graduations Garden" since graduations used to take place there, not anymore.

This building I like to call "the Fish tank" it is where the Business School Teacher have their offices.

The garden of life, I used to have ethics, philosophy and psicology classes there, there was a class room there (just the seats) to create a freedom enviroment, there was also a tent to avoid sun, in the tent there was the seats, until a guy and a girl used it for sex, after that, they remove the tent.

The monument to life... that is the name, is located in the garden of life.

Smoking zone, in all the campus there are smoking zones, you can recognize them by the signs of the cigarrete and the lines on the floor, and the ash trays. I call them "smeally zones" tons of people are there killing themselves slowly but surely.

Engineerings' Building, the mechanical, industrial, industrial design and other engineer classes are thought here.

Architecs and Industrial Engineers sculptures in the garden of engineers. There is a class of artistic stuff, and they are allow to put their creations there, creations only them understand.

Inforations Technology Building, the IT building, for those studying something related to computers, programers, IT managers, etc. This was the first smart building in campus.

Robotics classroom, for those studying robotics.

The Architect's garden Solar calendar.

The Manufacturing cell, for those studying manufacturing, industrial, and other thing like that, they have production stuff there, as well as robots. In my brother times (long ago) they used to call this building "Mario Bros Casttle"

The campus banks, the campus has several ATM and a bank office inside, very helpfull, also the ATMs give you as low as $20 pesos (less than $2.00usd) while outside campus the minimum is $100.00 pesos.

The Central Square, it is the prime parking location, if you park your car here, you are near every building, so it is the MOST wanted parking place, all day you will see cars that are roundig like vultures, round and round waiting for a space.

The Design and Architecture Building next to the parking space known as Disney, because it is the farest place to park your car, you need a train just like in Disney to arrive on time to class, unless you are an architect or designer.

The Integral Devolpment Centre, or the gym, auditorium and cultural place, in this building there are the offices of all sports, the gym, the students clubs, and cultural clubs.

From inside, this place is where graduations take place now.

The climbing wall, for those who love to climb and are not afraid to heights. All sports facilities are sponsored by somebody, in this case Coca-Cola's PowerAde

Highschool sports facilities, in Mexico is very common that colleges have highschools, this is not exception, and this are their sports facilities.

Highschool study garden.

Highschool building.

Football field (soccer) and the track.

Students recidences inside campus, outside campus in the sorounding area there are a lot of recidences and appartments, but this ones are inside, they have a convinience store, a play room (pool, foosball, and other games), a cinema theater (50 seats to see movies) and to enter you need to check your palm and finger prints (all five fingers) in a biometric machine.

Another football field, and the inspirational posters, this one has a friend of mine!, There are five (5) football fields (soccer only)

Tennis courts, I used to train tennis here, still come to play there from time to time. Sponsored by NOKIA... now I get it, I now know why I wanted to buy only Nokia phones.

Basketball court. Nokia is there too.

Swimming pool and the dressing room, foreign girls (other country than Mexico) use this part like they where in the beach, to wear bikinis and take sun baths, great view but weird. Nokia sponsored too!

The Cyberplaza, this plaza was built to cover the need for more space to plug your laptop and use the Wifi, that is why it is called cyberplaza, it has a sushi and sub cafeteria there.

The Congress Hall, for expos, congress and all kind of events, it is the most modern facilitie for this purpuse in the state.

The Campus Mascot, the Cosmic Ram, that is how it is called, the artist that made this put that name. Cosmic... don't know why.

Campus main plaza where the main fountain is located, the flag hangs, and it is the oldest part of campus.

The library, the entire first floor is computers, there is the general hall with something like 300 computers for general use, the architects computer room with software needed for architecture, the marketing room with special software for marketing, and so on. Still in all the other building there are computers. There used to be computers in the halls and outside the bathrooms but due to weather and laptops, where removed. The second floor is the largest library in the state, with the biggest book collection in the state, so students from all the other universities in town came to use the servie too. The third foor is the cafeteria and students lounge to study, team work, meeting rooms, and any other stuff involved with the use of the books.

So this is how my campus looks, still I haven't take photos of other places, since there are a lot, but the main spots are covered.

The best College Tradition!!

, , , ...

I think the best college tradition ever is the so-called "Road trip" a trip with your friends with little or no money, to any kind of places... As a good college guy I practice it as much as possible ($$) when we are a student we call ourselves studenhunger (estudihambre) since you suffer hunger because you spent great percentage of your money in two things, school books and material (copies, coffee, library fees and stuff) and in parties (beer and chips), that is why we suffer hunger.

As a student I had road trips to several places:

-Ixtapa (beach)
-Playa Azul a beach (well we thought it was playa azul, but we are not certain, since we arrive by accident, we where lost)
-Los Azufres (forest, cabins, scary stories, crazy using mask killer... well not all of that)
-Morelia (colonial town)
-Patzcuaro (famous for it's day of the dead party... and very cold)
-Bernal (small town with the third biggest rock on earth)
-Tequisquiapan (small town with lots of water parks)
-Colon (small town with nothing to do... so bored)
-Amealco (small town with forest and extremly cold)

In all but two of those trips I was the official driver, since I am the one with a car of it's own and the one with the more experience in driving, and never crashing a car... well not a big crash.

For the first time we are no longer students, and we no longer suffer for the lack of money... not so much suffering... so we are going to do the first roadtrip by plane, so it will be called the first plane trip for the friends... I'm doing it with my friends from High school who went to the same college as me, and some college friends to the colonial-beach-port town of Veracruz located in jungle, so we are making a trip with all the characteristics of the previous trips, forest (jungle actually), beach and colonial.

Tomorrow is D day... super anxious to travel... it will be only a weekend, just like in college.
