Opera Tips

,

In this post I will share any Opera tips that will come to mind. I will try to keep this up-to-date, so it might be worth while to revisit this post once in a while.

The first batch of tips is a compilation of tips from the Opera Tips twitter page. There are lots more there, but I chose to most prominent ones for me.

Here Goes!

Tip #1
Right-click on a tab and choose "Lock Tab". This option will affectively disallow actions such as accidentally closing the tab.

Tip #2
Fast and simple scrolling with the space bar. Pressing the scroll bar will scroll the document down. Once the document's bottom is reached, pressing the scroll bar will load the next page.

Tip #3
Automatic page refreshes. Right-click on a page and choosing Reload Every will enable you to set an automatic interval to reload the page.

Tip #4
Click and hold the Back button to see a list of previously visited websites - for the currently active tab.

Tip #5
You can perform an inline search by pressing either "." or "/".

Tip #6
After the search, you can jump through the results by using the F3 key.

Tip #7
Use Opera Link to have your bookmarks with you, wherever you install the Opera browser.

Opera 10.x

, , ,

Many moons have passed since my last Opera-related post.
What has happened since?

Lots of updates to My Opera (none of them, of course, dealt with the various BiDi problems...)!
Opera 10 was released. Opera Mini 5 beta was released. Opera 10.10 "Unite Edition" was released. Wow.

Looks like it has mostly been Good Times(TM).

The Opera browser is now better than ever in regards to BiDi support (and in general, too!!).
There are still various kinks to work out but overall - really good.

I am really excited to be able to help the Opera developers improve the browser and its BiDi/RTL support; the past few years have been very rewarding (being an Elektran and all), and I really look forward for an even better Opera in 2010.

Other then that, I have also switched to Mac and I now own an aluminum Macbook 13" (late 2008 edition).
The transition to OS X was really smooth; I've most alternative and even superior applications to use and I am really enjoying every moment (for real!). Opera for Mac also works and looks great. If you get the chance then I sincerely suggest you a Mac.

Climate Change

,

As my blog's title suggest - I am not big on blogging, not because I don't like it or find it pointless; I'm just not big on it personally. I'm a reader, not a writer. That said, today is a special and important day and I find myself compelled to chim in and actually write.

Today is Blog Action Day 2009 on the subject of Climate Change, and while I am certainly no expert, but I believe this issue is Very Important(TM). The world's nations cannot and must not put this matter aside or on the "back burner" any longer. Our world is "falling apart" because of our own doing, and it is important that we all take a stand and decide that it is time to undo our damages.

Please, take notice of this and try to raise the awareness of this issue in your own respected countries.
Take action.
