life, university, suck
For the past 82 days the university lecturers here in Israel have been on strike, basicly claiming the government owes them money (what else...) for the continuous decline in their salary in the past X years. This, of course, happens on the backs of the students who for the past two months+ studied only part of their courses and some no courses at all(!).
This upcoming sunday is actually the last day of the semester! But to make things worse, this upcoming sunday is also the last day of the lecturer's ultimatum; as they have threatened to CANCEL the semester if the government will not address their demands. What does this mean for the students, the courses that took place and the upcoming exams (and many more questions) - no one knows. Infact, no one has got any infromation what-so-ever.
This is shit.
This is actually the second time in a row there is a strike here. The first one took place on the second semester of the previous year (my freshman year), only that time it was the students union who striked against the high tuition tag for academic studies in public universities.
sigh.
This is not the academic life I imagined for myself. Complete uncertainty.

life
So the strike is over after 41 days. Most of the students feel that the deal that was made between the students union and the government is a farce and a disgrace and I agree. It is almost as if this strike was for nothing.
Life goes on I suppose...
In other, happier, matters: I'm flying to Turkey!
I will be attending my third Dream Theater concert this June 29th. I will be flying with ~60 members of the band's official Israeli fanclub (http://www.ytsejammersisrael.com). It's going to rock.
Before that I will be hosting in my home a fanclub meeting. This should also be lots of fun.

That's about it for now.

opera, life
I suppose I didn't exactly follow what I wrote in the Sticky above...
No posts since that one (the edited version).

Exciting times in Opera World,
- Opera v9.5 is appearantly just around the corner with v10 racing behind it. I am hoping for many BiDi fixes, much deserved fixes.
- New My.Opera didn't ship with BiDi tweaks but hopefully this could be addressed as soon as humenly possible.
- The Hebrew Group has written an Opera Mini guide in Hebrew, covering Everything Mini.
- More stuff we don't yet know about, as usual.

Aside of that, finished my first semester in the university with good grades. I'm pleased.

Five semesters to go!
