The Hebrew Group and Gaining Momentum

,

I recently started locating Opera issues, fixable ones, that also relate to Israeli users and have address them via the group's blog.

Currently there are only two issues address:
1. The media player at walla!news and
2. Explaining in Hebrew how to config gMail as well as Opera Mail to work together

I'm still looking for more fixable issues to write about. Any suggestions?

I am also looking to expand the reach of the group to more users and invite them over so that the group's size will grow more 'officialy' (re group members count).

These kind of things take, erm, time. bleh.

Observations Thus Far

MyOpera Community Issues:
Updated may 24th

Missing Features
  1. Missing mark all as read button in New Posts and at other locations
  2. Calender doesn't respect the 'Start of week' setting (sunday or monday)
  3. Easy access to the forum's "control panel"
  4. Add the Pages [1] [2] [3] [...] links at the top right corner in a thread (as well as having it alreday at the bottom right of a thread)
  5. No easy way to access my PMs untill I get a new one
  6. Be able to see a list of threads that user X posted at
  7. After subscribing to a topic, you are being returned to the first page of the thread instead of to the page you were at
  8. Subscribe to forum and not only to topic
  9. Allow group members to add photos to group albums (per album setting)
  10. Editing tools for comments!
  11. Ability to customize language groups

Layout Mishaps/other
  1. At this location: [url]http://my.opera.com/community/help/forums/ - there is a missing space after the insertion of <nick>.
  2. Example URL - search field and text are misplaced (missing spacing...)
  3. At the subscriptions page, once you have subscribed to a topic/whatever, there is a missing space between the "Unsubscribe Checked Subscriptions" button and the "Subscriptions Notifications" headline.
  4. Birth date format in edit profile is unknown... Is it year/month/day or year/day/month?

  5. At this location: [url]http://my.opera.com/YtseJam/account/groups.dml - text formatting isn't being applied. That is, if I have two sentences with an empty line between them, that empty line is not present in the description of the group in the above location. In other places where this description is shown, it is displayed correctly.

  6. BiDi users were not in the mind of the dev. team while coding the new community site. When one writes text in, say... Hebrew, the outcome text might be ok, that is, the text is understandable but it is left-aligned as if it was English, but Hebrew is BiDi, and goes from right to left (RTL) but it is positioned to the left instead of to the right. This lack of RTLing, I assume, also caused the . (dot) and smilies and etc at the end of a line to be positioned at one end of a line when it's supposed to be at the other end of the line. Example pages with BiDi text in them can be found at the Hebrew group and forum description page as well as at the groups listing page (scroll down) - relevant forum thread@Hebrew forums
edit: Also can be seen here: http://my.opera.com/hebrew/forums/

  7. The 'download Opera' banner at the side bar should be viewable only to outsider users (it is rather pointless and annoying seeing it if you're already a member of my.opera and using the Opera browser!)
  8. Top bar at this location: [url]http://my.opera.com/hebrew/forums/]/url] is aligned to the centered instead of to the left like in any other page
  9. The link in the account page, leading to the forum settings page differs from the link to the forum settings shown while visiting the forums (and also the pages content/features is not the same), link in the account page needs to change...
  10. In the results of page of a forum search, the column links (replies, topic starter and etc) are in blue, should be white...
  11. Compare the background color of this forum http://my.opera.com/hebrew/forums/forum.dml?id=87 to the rest of the Opera forums. Notice that it is slightly darker, shouldn't all columns be like that?

Bugs in Groups
  1. Archive section; Title description text changes in the wrong section
  2. Editing a group's profile in order to add tags doesn't work, see thread
  3. Cannot add newsfeeds to a group's blog, see thread
  4. "Latest Post" is blank, see thread

Bugs in Blogs
  1. While I can align my text to the right via align=right, lists aren't fully aligned. That is, they will display on the right, but the 'dots' or numbering will remain on the left of the list entry. See thread.

Example:

  1. testing, testing

Other Bugs
  1. When (trying to) submit a form via the Contact page, even though the name and email address fields are filled, you get an error page stating that you must fill in your details (it appears as if I'm not logged in to the community)
  2. Wallpaprs section appears to continue not functionating even though the slowdown has disappeared by now
  3. Subscribing to more than 1 topic doesn't work - subscriptions don't show up in the side bar box at the main forums page as well as in the subscriptions page So now subscriptions show up correctly in the subscriptions page, but only 1 shows up in the main forums page (little box in bottom right side)
  4. Can't upload an icon for tags
  5. Aftering editing a comment once and then after a while editing again, the line that says that the comment was edited on <date> and <time> doesn't update again.
  6. PM notifications only work at My Page or Community pages and not in the Forums
  7. Sometimes, a user which was marked as a friend, will not be marked as such when viewing his profile
