1992 -1994
On June 12, 1992, Hiro decided to resign from the band with no specific reason. Without guitarist, Tetsu suddenly remember his childhood friend, Ken Kitamura (Ken) who was studying Architecture in a university in Nagoya. He asked Ken for helping them to make demo music. Ken must memorize all of the songs in 5 days but he did it shorter. They finished the musics only in 3 days.
First, he did both as guitarist in band and also university student. But at the end, the band activities were wasting most of his time and after thinking in 3 days, he decided to end his study at university. His parents were so angry with this decision and had very bad argue with him and they didn’t talk to each other. In picture, Ken in his early style
On October 1, 1992, they recorded “Voice” for Omnibus CD Album with title “Gimmick”
On November 25, 1992, L’arc en Ciel released their first single named “Flood of Tears”. This time, this single will be a very rare goodies because it released only 1000 pieces, very limited edition and getting more expensive (approx. 60.000 yen)!
On December 30,1992, after their live concer in Osaka Music Hall, Pero decided to follow Hiro by resigning from the band. Tetsu decided to find another drummer in Tokyo because he thought that they will have a great carrier in Tokyo at the end.One day, Tetsu watched Sakura in a concer performance and interested to ask him to join the band. He sent the demo tape and Sakura interested and went to Osaka to have a jam session. He officially became L’arc en Ciel drummer on January 16, 1993.
On April 10, 1993, they released their first album Dune, under indies label Danger Crue and became no 1 in Oricon Indies Chart on May. In only 3 months, the album was sold in 20,000 pc. The opportunities were opened to them for playing in live indies concer Karei Naru Masho in Shibuya Kokaido with 2000 audiences. Their popularity was not only in Osaka now, but starting to reach Tokyo. Major labels started to get interested with their performances and music.
On September 1993, they increased their carrier and moving in Tokyo (although Hyde didn’t like this idea at first).
On July 1, 1994, they released their first video single, Nemuri Ni Yosete and 2 weeks later on July 14, 1994, they released the second Album, TIERRA under major labels Sony Ki/oon records. This date was also become their first tour Sense of Time.
In picture, starting top left: Hyde, Ken, Sakura & TetsuOn September 1994, L’arc en Ciel was going for trip abroad for the first time, to Maroko for the making of Siesta ~ film of dream~ video. This experience was really challenging and fun for them and the film was released at the end of 1994.
On October 21, 1994, their first single under Sony Ki/oon record was released under the title “BLURRY EYES”. This song became theme song for anime DNA2 and become their best songs ever. In December 1, 1994, the official fans club was founded under the name “CIEL”.
