Praise the Opera Team, transparency now really works!

, ,

What a great day! Todays snapshot (Build 3216) fixes the transparency issues like it was promised. Now transparency works with all tabbar positions (but of course still only on operating systems supporting it, mainly Windows Vista and Windows 7).

This is only a minor update to make the benefits of this new snapshot available to you. I will be busy today and therefor unable to make a version with bigger changes. The new solution for the statusbar in the new build needs some work to fit this skin well, I will look into this tomorrow and offer a an update then.

For now enjoy the full transparency:

Download: Z1-Glass v1.19 (save to your <Opera directory>/skin folder)

The screenshots show Windows 7 with the soft7 custom visual style. If you are disturbed by a white gradient in your transparent speeddial, you may want to switch to a custom visual style too.

As of now, there is no posting for the new build 3216 at the Desktop Team blog, but it must be coming soon. The download link for the new build is: (Windows MSI) http://snapshot.opera.com/windows/Opera_1050_3216_en.exe

The only thing missing is a semi transparent background loading page

Who likes to see an all white/green background when things are loading up?

smile

sweet. Two issues though.

1. It's probably normal that it's not always transparent, right? I mean when it's maximised.
2. Somehow xontrol buttons (close, maximize, minimize) don't work with this skin. Anyone getting this?

Awesome skin.

This a known issue with the new transparency mode and will be fixed at a later date.

No white/greed background over here, could you provide a screenshot?

I can read the page here just fine, is it a blurred text issue? Some had such issues but I couldn't find a reason yet. Could you provide a screenshot or specific link? What font are you using?

With todays snapshot it should be always transparent.

I see, it's a known issue, it's the same with dark background and dark text of pdfs opened with the adobe plugin. I don't know how it could be fixed through the skin, I filed a bug report (DSK-277964).

Love it!, I favor it over the Aero Glass theme you made !

thanks a bunch opera team!

UPDATE: I put opera 10.5 pre-alpha on a HP TouchSmart computer(Windows Vista 32-bit) build 3216 with Z1-Glass theme 1.19.

When I applied the theme and checked around for any problems I found that the window control buttons dont work in the skin. I cant "X" out , "minimize", or "maximize".

here is a screenshot below:

is the best skin EVER!!! bigsmile

Lukášlukaydo Sunday, January 31, 2010 6:55:28 AM

ok i dont know if its only my problem, but i have 1px white border around every opened tab as you can see here:

Z1-AV69 Sunday, January 31, 2010 9:27:51 AM

@ SamMD: See this: http://my.opera.com/Z1-AV69/blog/show.dml/7122511#comment17417611

@lukaydo: Everyone has the white line. It's from the way I made the rounded corners effect. It's not possible to really make the corners of the whole page rounded, the white line is part of creating the illusion. It's a drawback I'm willing to take until someone has a better solution?

I don't know much about Linux, but it will depend upon wether Linux gets something like Aero transparency.

No, Windows XP doesn't have the required Aero functions.

I think I remember someone writing about such a program somewhere, but I don't remember any details.
