I think that bug is still as a result of an Opera bug. I am loving the fact that Personal bar folders are readable now! Can you make this same change (changing Personal bar font color to white) on Z1-Ten as well?

I think I will put over some of the updates to Z1-TEN too, this would be one.

steppenrob Monday, March 1, 2010 3:49:49 PM

I personally like the blue text instead of the blue dot. It's a nice compromise between the dot and the full tab re-colour.

0oO0 Monday, March 1, 2010 7:09:39 PM

Really great work! Many thanks. But there is a litte bug: If the Opera window is maxmized and full with tabs, there is no chance to double click on the 1 pixel height top title bar space to resize the window where you normally can click into. So now you have always to click on the resize icon on the top right corner to resize the window from maximum. The problem is only in this skin but not in the TEN-skin.

Z1-AV69 Monday, March 1, 2010 7:13:02 PM

Yes, I changed that recently. Peoples opinions are mixed on this issue, there has been a lot of discussion in the Desktop Team Blog. But you can change that in opera:config: search for "chrome" there and change opera:config#UserPrefs|ChromeIntegrationDragAreaMaximized from 1 to 2.

0oO0 Monday, March 1, 2010 7:20:48 PM

Wow. Great. Many thanks. Will this be fixed in a future version of the skin or is it a problem with the Opera version?

Z1-AV69 Monday, March 1, 2010 7:27:32 PM

It's a matter of the skin, simply a design decision.

udka Monday, March 1, 2010 8:49:12 PM

Oh thx 4 this tip. I wondered about the same thing. It's very irritating that it is not working like in the other skins. Would be cool if this can be fixed to Opera standard config at the next releases. I (and apperently Opera too) think it is much better to handle with this function. It's the best skin I ever saw! Thank you for this work! Keep it up! smile

Anonym writes: I feared that it's a bug in Opera. I'm also thinking the same than the others. It's a much easier workflow if you've not exactly to target a little symbol to resize the window and so I'm always using a double click on the top. Don't know when I was using the resize icon last time. I think that the most users don't know how they can fix this issue. Don't know why you changed this standard function used by all typical windows, but would be nice if this could be changed again. But apart from that it's really a very cool skin!

Z1-AV69 Tuesday, March 2, 2010 8:41:31 AM

The top-pixel thing was reverted to standard in v2.02. Since that is controlable with opera:config#chrome, it's better to keep the standard behavior in the skin.

Some text when loding a page in the background becomes unreadable.

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/38605/2010-03-02_143953.jpg

Is there any option to make them bold? I think it will be more readable.

Z1-AV69 Tuesday, March 2, 2010 1:17:01 PM

It's not really possible to make text on transparent background fit every wallpaper, your wallpaper color is indeed especially problematic. I can only offer you advise what to change in the skin.ini: search for "#80c0ff" (which is the textcolor in question) and replace it with a color you like more. You can do that for every place where the term "#80c0ff" is used in the skin.ini.

coolmyll Tuesday, March 2, 2010 1:58:18 PM

Thanks. I dont get why it has to change color anyway. It ok staying white for me.

Z1-AV69 Tuesday, March 2, 2010 2:00:42 PM

The change was necessary since I removed the small dots. It doesn't show the attention-state without the text color. If you don't care about the attention state, you can simply use the system color scheme to make the text white again.

RelaX writes: Could You, please, take out these 'lines': http://img522.imageshack.us/i/operam.png/ I know they are there, to make effect of glass... but I don't like them, plus they are the ones, who make text in pdf unreadable(at least for me). Basically, I want plain transparent skin, with no glass imitation :P PLEASE!

Z1-AV69 Tuesday, March 2, 2010 3:51:43 PM

That lines are from Windows. You can use a custom visual style without them like I do. A link to the windows visual style of my choice is in the sidebar of the blog.

But that won't fix the .pdf issues, that is a problem with Opera.

0oO0 Tuesday, March 2, 2010 4:26:41 PM

Thanks for the fix with the top pixel line. But there is another little issue with the colors in the adress bar. It's very difficult to differ marked text from unmarked text because the background color of the adress bar is nearly the same than the color of the marking. The cursor is also hardly visible because of the same reason (Win XP):

http://www.imagebanana.com/img/v4mnxe6x/glassadress.png

The left text is unmarked. The right text is marked.

Z1-AV69 Tuesday, March 2, 2010 4:28:34 PM

The marking color is from your OS, you can change it there.

0oO0 Tuesday, March 2, 2010 4:35:42 PM

Hm. I don't want to change the color configuration for a whole OS only because of a browser skin. Is it possible to change the background color to white like it is in the search field? At least than these two fields are looking the same style.

0oO0 Tuesday, March 2, 2010 5:16:34 PM

I saw that the address field in the TEN skin has a white background. But I didn't found the correct setting in opera:config that I can change the background color of this input field in the Glass skin. Can you please help me a little bit?

Z1-AV69 Tuesday, March 2, 2010 5:18:29 PM

You can edit /border/addressfield.png to your liking.

0oO0 Tuesday, March 2, 2010 5:26:42 PM

Perfect. I copied the adressfield.png from the TEN skin to the Glass skin. Great. Thank you very much! smile

Z1-AV69 Tuesday, March 2, 2010 5:29:10 PM

Interesting, I didn't think of this. At least you know what you are doing when using exotic colors. p

0oO0 Tuesday, March 2, 2010 5:34:02 PM

My XP color configuration comes from XP Zune theme. So like it is now everything is perfect and working very well. smile

sebt Tuesday, March 2, 2010 5:56:05 PM

Great skin for Win7! Unfortunately I'm going to need a better gfx card wink

Any chance the 1px white border around the inside of the rendering area can be removed? It's fine on white pages, but looks kinda ugly on dark pages.

Edit: I notice now that the border is 1px black and then another 1px white. It might work without either of these, so the page seamlessly blends into the transparent border.

Seb smile

Z1-AV69 Tuesday, March 2, 2010 6:04:48 PM

The white/black border fakes the rounded effect of the page corners. In the skin.ini is a comment under [Browser Skin] explaining what to edit to get rid of them.

sebt Tuesday, March 2, 2010 6:21:24 PM

Thanks! Like the rounded corners but prefer not to have any black/white lines so I've commented out as suggested.

And I don't like how the new tab button doesn't have a border over it, and doesn't have any effects when you hover over it. Sorry for nitpicking, but I'm just trying to provide my input. I think I'll stick with 1.53 for right now. :)

0oO0 Tuesday, March 2, 2010 11:22:29 PM

Exact this little things are the reason why this skin is so much better than many other skins. I love this hidden closing buttons and discreet tab symbol. Looks very tidy and elegant. Such little detailed things are the reason why I like this skin very much.

I changed it in 2.00. You can edit the skin.ini as follows to get rid of the borders:

[Personalbar Button Skin]
;Type = BoxStretch
;Tile Center = border/toolbar-button.png
;StretchBorder = 6
Margin Left = 0
Margin Right = 0
Margin Bottom = 0
Margin Top = 0
Padding Left = 4
Padding Top = 2
Padding Right = 4
Padding Bottom = 2
Spacing = 2
Text Color = #000000

Thats fine for me, input is good. I cannot satisfy everything though. But in case of the new tab button, I agree it needs a hover. It's missing since I put in "Glow On Hover = 0". I think a border wouldn't be good there, but something should be done.

Excellent skin, it's really great! smile
I know this isn't particular to the skin, but is it possible to change the grey of the blank workspace area?
Many thanks bigsmile

Not in the skin, I would like to find a way too.

Lukenaarcissus Thursday, March 4, 2010 3:05:25 AM

Very nice skin. Best ones I've seen.

I would like to know if there is an easy way to take the personal bar buttons from Z1-Ten and use them in Z1-Glass? Could I just swap pngs around or would I also have to edit the ini?

I really like this skin, but the button borders for the personal bar just throws the whole thing off.

Thank You.

Z1-AV69 Thursday, March 4, 2010 8:06:57 AM

You would need to edit the skin.ini. Search for "[Personalbar Button Skin]" and comment ther first 3 lines out by adding ";" at the beginning of the line. Then the borders will be gone on nornal state.

Lukenaarcissus Thursday, March 4, 2010 2:07:49 PM

Looks much better. Thank you. I didn't have to restart my computer. I just modified the ini, but made sure to quit Opera before saving. I don't know if that makes any difference though.

Looking @ this now it might look nice to add a a similar halo effect to the side panel icons(similar to the stock personal bar text). Just a thought.

Thanks again for the skin.ini mod and for the quick response.

mpdeimos Sunday, March 7, 2010 10:16:46 AM

hey,
first of all great work! ike this skin very much.

have a lil question: how do i add a close button next to the closed tabs button?
like in this pic http://shup.com/Shup/292036/11027111432-httpfiles.myopera.comZ1-AV69filesGlassZ1-Glass_24.png-Opera.png

have searched quite a lot now but no luck sad

Z1-AV69 Sunday, March 7, 2010 10:53:51 AM

In fact that button on the screenshot is no "close Tab" button, but you can have that there. Here is the button Close Tab button. Click the link and then put it where you want it. On hold this button will close all but the active tab.

mpdeimos Sunday, March 7, 2010 2:33:23 PM

thx,
what does your button do then? i quite liked the idea of having a central close button in fact lots of tabs are open and i just want to close a few (instead of hitting ctrl+w all the time)

Z1-AV69 Sunday, March 7, 2010 2:48:05 PM

On click it closed all tabs, on hold all but the active. I had removed it recently, but I think I will keep that button up there now, at least on my big screen system.
