Opera 10.5

As you probably know, Opera today released a pre-alpha of Opera 10.5. It has a lot of bugs, but it shows already a bunch of amazing new features. Not only is it super fast (fastest browser in the world - again, finally), it also brings us the long awaited Aero-effects and Win7 integration.

For me this means that I will have to build my version of the new skin. I don't know yet if it will be just a further devolepment of my Z1-TEN skin or if I will make heavier changes. I will simply take my time over christmas to find out what I want my browser to look like and then publish the result.

If any reader has ideas what could be improved from the standard_skin of 10.5, please write a comment. It is much easier to integrate ideas during the development process than later...

Mod: Z1-TEN with more etched text

, , , ...

There is a possibility to have etched text on almost all toolbar buttons. But it has a drawback if no background image is used in speeddial: The "What is speeddial?" buttons will have blurred text.

Here is a version with full etched text:

Download Z1-TEN with full etched text. (Save the file to your <Opera profile>/skin directory. You can see in opera:about where it is.)

To avoid the blurred text in speeddial, there are several options:
1. You can use speeddial-state=2. Click the link, set the value to 2 and save. You will have to open a new speeddial page to see the effect. With speeddial-state=2 the speeddial widgets will be locked.
2. You can use a background image of the same color as the background. Download the Z1-TEN_fake_background and choose it as background for speeddial.

If you don't want any of this, you should stay with the release from the official skin page.

Z1-TEN v1.20: Smoother speeddial and bugfixes

, , ,

Version 1.13 had a bad bug with default speed dial state in Opera 10. In Opera 10.10 the bug wasn't present, so I didn't see it. Sorry for that one... But now at least I know that Opera 10.10 finally fixes the bug with the "What is Speed Dial?" and "Configure Speed Dial" buttons, they never looked like they should from their entry in the skin.ini.
Unfortunately for the time until Opera 10.10 gets gold status, I had to revert edged text effects on some toolbars.
Additionally I changed the background of speed dial widgets, but the original graphic is still from Mike46, thanks a lot!
The small close panel button got also fixed, this was another bug carried over from the standard_skin.

My browser

This is how my browser actually looks like. Also this is the setup the Z1-TEN skin is really made for.

Z1-TEN v1.13: Edged Text

, ,

This is only a very small update. I added an edged text effect to bright elements. Because those elements are already very bright it may be hard to see, but I like subtle details...

Z1-TEN v1.12: Minor Improvements

Panel selector buttons were too dark for some users. I lighted the buttons somewhat up to make the icons better readable. I will keep the panel selectors dark background though, as it fits the pagebar background well.

The updated version will also make it easier to customize the blue attention tabs away. Just open the skin and navigate to pagebar/top/ (or pagebar/bottom/ or pagebar/side/). Copy out "pagebar_button_inactive.png" and rename it to "pagebar_button_attention.png". Then copy it back into the the subfolder of the skin you had copied it out where it will replace the blue button. Do this for all pagebar positions you want and the blue attention tabs will be gone.
