I don't think education is the answer anymore, surely every sexually active adult in the world knows about HIV by now - and it doesn't stop us doing it, right? Take care of yourself and your partner, that's all you can do....if neither of you 'screws around' and hasn't done so for like the last 15 years without protection, then you're quite likely OK. Otherwise, you and your current partner are definitely in the HIV lottery. You sleep with everyone your partner's slept with, unfortunately.....
*returns to this one* I didn't mean to sound like a 'goody-goody' in my comment about 'screwing around' above - because I'm not - what I meant to say is that unless that's what you've been like (very good and monochromatic...no...I mean monogamous ) - or at least been very careful with 'protection' then you might develop HIV yet, because you just don't know....and if you know enough to go and get tests, then you probably accept the risks and keep doing it anyway...
And education. What I meant to say there was : Everyone knows about HIV probably - but attitudes need to change,. It's more than a personal sexual disease - it's a rampant international pandemic and it will not go away until all human life ceases (unless there is a cure). Free condoms. Teach in schools how to use and not be 'ashamed' or embarrassed. Make them a simple fact of life, not some 'naughty' purchase to be made because you think you might be having sex later....kids should grow up feeling relaxed and natural about sex and both contraception and protection...and then (i m o) HIV might meet it's match...
I couldn't agree more. Sex is a natural thing in life, and should be treated as such.
What really makes me wonder what is going on in people's head is that some men are still willing to pay a prostitute more to have sex without condom. I mean... WTF?
In my opinion, it's got a lot to do with denial and the 'it'll never hapen to me' state of mind - the same as people smoking and eating KFC - it's like cancer and heart attacks just don't exist for them or something. Weird and very, very blind. At least with the smoking and heart-attack food, it's only that individual that dies (altho' their familes suffer the loss, no doubt the smokers etc. are too selfish to consider that)
