It's a mater of pronunciation, what "pasties" are ... with an "a" as in "paste" the word refers to the little circular nipple-covers worn by strippers and exotic dancers ... frequently a tassel is attached to the centre. With the "a" as in "at", it refers to pasties as shown in the photo, which are Cornish in origin. The thick, twisted "handle" may not be present in the ones that are not intended to be consumed by miners with poisonous substances on their hands.
