Equinox ~ It's finally spring!!

An Equinox occurs twice a year, when the tilt of the Earth's axis is inclined neither away from nor towards the Sun, the Sun being vertically above a point on the Equator.

The name is derived from the Latin aequus (equal) and nox (night), because around the Equinox, the night and day are approximately equally long.

In 2009 the Vernal equinox is today, the 20th of March. So today is officially the first day of spring.

My spring's come for a while, you know. Now it's cool, with 24C and sometimes drizzly rain. I have to go much this weekend so don't like rain this time awww

The weather is wonderful this morning!

I'm an early bird myself, but this morning it was obvious that the birds outside had been awake and busy long before I stumbled out of bed. It's so nice. The schoolkids spend their breaks outside and laugh and cheer, the number of pedestrians on the street is increasing. Soon the little girls and boys will start falling in love, and up there in the window, old Martin is sitting with a cigarette between his teeth watching it all unfold.

Today is cold and grey, after feeling like spring the last week, whilst I was sick.

But it's coming! :hat: *does a silly little dance*

And I'm trying to remember if I fell in love in the spring..... I don't think so, I must be an oddball!

Zaph, I love your pictures. I see beauty all around, but I cannot capture it the way you can.... You have that little spark of magic... I'm glad we are given the regularly rationed gifts of your pictures! :happy:

Today is the first recognisable Autumnal day where I live. It was a totally clear and very cold night (requiring a blanket AND a Duvet!) and now is (still) totally clear, a huge blue sky with not a cloud in sight and yet a real chill in the wind, even tho' the Sun is quite hot. My favourite kind of weather :up:
