More shootings in Copenhagen

,

A 29-year-old man was shot multiple times by two masked men on a motorbike in the Nørrebro area of Copenhagen this Tuesday, in an incident police are linking to the ongoing gang conflict.

The man, who was walking his toddler in a pushchair, was shot three times in the leg and once in the hand around lunchtime by the men. Witnesses said the two sped off on a red Yamaha motorbike.

The shooting took place only a few metres from Blågårds Plads Square (The Black Square) – an area which has been central to the conflict between immigrant gangs and bikers.

Tensions in the neighbourhood boiled over, when shortly after the shooting a large number of local young men surrounded the crime scene. Police were in the process of sealing off the scene so the man could receive medical attention, when they were attacked by the onlookers.

According to Copenhagen Police they had to use force to drive back the crowd so paramedics could attend to the wounded man. Three people were arrested following the tussles with police.

The man was taken to the city hospital where his condition is said to be stable. But more trouble broke out at the hospital when a large number of people tried to visit the wounded man. Police used pepperspray to disperse the crowd.

The news reports that the victim is an accountant and father of two who has no connection to the criminal gang conflict - but he had a bullet proof vest in his car not far away from where he got shot. How many ordinary people have got that kind of gear?!

I hope this war will end soon. It's not fair that innocent people are supposed to be afraid to take a walk in Copenhagen. :irked:

Rules for catsThings that makes you go WTF?

A lot of high ranking bank personnel are starting to carry bulletproof vests with them. An accountant shouldn't need one but you never know.

It's ridiculous that so many people are determined to make the world afraid of living a normal life.

Kitty 24. April 2009, 04:24

Nah, our bank personnel aren't carrying bullet proof vests as far as I've heard.

I am not afraid of walking in my city. I will not let a bunch of bullies change the way I love to walk around in my city.

Dacotah 24. April 2009, 04:27

I am sorry the guy got shot but glad the toddler was ok.

Santa Furie 24. April 2009, 04:39

That's my kitty. Just be real good at ducking eh? :worried:

Kitty 24. April 2009, 05:25

@ Carol ~ Yes, I was glad that the little one was unharmed, but I guess that's just luck, thinking of where the guy got hit.

@ Mik ~ Ducking and running - my specialties. :D

It really pisses me off when they continue to bombard the ambulance and police, and that even the hospital no longer is a safe zone... :irked:

You might have heard of Rosengård, Zap. A place in Malmö that sometimes gets out of control. It's gotten so far at times, that the ambulance refuses to drive there without police escort because kids (yes, children) are throwing rocks at them... *sighs*

I hope the war will end soon too!

Kitty 24. April 2009, 08:37

Yes, I've heard about Rosengård, and I agree with you wholeheartedly: What the fuck are those people thinking, not letting the ambulances getting through!

I saw a clip from Nørrebro where the police had put up ... er... you know... afspærring, and the people just rushed in so the police had to threaten to hit the demonstrants with sticks.

Dacotah 24. April 2009, 09:50

Yes, just pure luck.

:sst: My image after my name doesn't show, just the word "Image", I tried right clicking on it and clicked reload, that didn't work.

Kitty 24. April 2009, 09:56

No I can see it's missing too. Let's give it a couple of hours - it may come back by itself.

Dacotah 24. April 2009, 09:57

Ok, it's been like that for awhile.

Jurjen 24. April 2009, 10:53

Well the good thing is it's the bad guys against the bad guys. So good guys are not so likely to be killed. Normal people shouldn't fear to much...

A bad thing indeed aggression towards ambulance personnel. This is a big problem in the netherlands as well. Some people have really lost all sense of reality I think :frown:

If you were an American you would of course immediately buy a big gun to protect myself, right?

Kitty 24. April 2009, 10:56

Problem is, Jurjen, that these guys obviously didn't take shooting lessons, so ordinary people have been at risk at several occasions. If they'd only shot each other, I am sure most people would be okay with it.

I am sorry to hear that the problems with ambulance personnel is in Netherlands too. That's simply lack of respect of human lives.

Naaaaah I wouldn't buy a gun. What if it went off in my purse! :yikes:

Jurjen 24. April 2009, 11:01

"What if it went off in my purse!"

You would just be glad you didn't stick it in your pants!

You're right about those shooting lessons... Perhaps the government should subsidize shooting lessons for gangsters! p:

Angeliki 24. April 2009, 11:05

"If you were an American you would of course immediately buy a big gun to protect myself, right? "

don't believe what you here about Americans,
none of the hundreds of Americanss I know have a gun,
actually my dedication on gun control
its very passionate

Every big city has crime.
A job oportunity brings in "the good, the bad and the ugly" in the overcrowded the cities,
drugs, hunger and frustration follows and ends up in activities that put in danger all citizens .
Life has to go on and I hope society face these evens as an outcry for change in what does not work.
Crime was and it will continue be on Earth for the beginning of time ,stopping living a happy life will make the criminas winners and nobody wants that to happen...

Jurjen 24. April 2009, 11:24

"don't believe what you here about Americans,"

So I shouldn't believe you to, right? :D Sorry for being so corny this morning....

I just remember those people that after one of those recent shootings a some college in the US (don't remember where), stated the victims should have had a gun so they could have protected themselves against the maniac starting shooting. While many voices said maybe it was time to make having firearms illegal, there was this group stating the opposite. People here jsut can't understand that last group, and I'm sure many Amaricans can't understand them neither.

As for the rest, I can't agree more with you

Angeliki 24. April 2009, 11:27

"Sorry for being so corny this morning...."

the corny in you is what makes you special :D

Moesring 24. April 2009, 15:21

At least he is only injured. It could have been a lot worse - particularly since you've already pointed out that the gunmen haven't taken shooting lessons. awww

Am I the only one wondering why he wasn't wearing the bulletproof vest? It wouldn't have helped him because he was shot in the leg but if he thought he needed one - hence the reason he had one in his car - then I would have thought he would wear it at all times. Homer: Doh!

You might have heard of Rosengård, Zap. A place in Malmö that sometimes gets out of control. ... the ambulance refuses to drive there without police escort because kids (yes, children) are throwing rocks at them...

If the media is to believed, it is the same just about everywhere around here. I don't know if it is specific to areas around where I live, or if it is supposed to be bad everywhere in the country. :o:

Santa Furie 24. April 2009, 15:37

Can be. They keep finding body parts spread around here. Same person, different places.

r♡se 24. April 2009, 15:39

Oh, I heard about the bodyparts this easter! Scary shit! :eyes:

Santa Furie 24. April 2009, 15:48

Happens. He probably pissed off the wrong people.

Cσησя Mμяρнỵ 24. April 2009, 15:52

Same things are happening here... :worried:

Kitty 24. April 2009, 16:42

@ Jurjen ~ Only because there isn't room for a gun in my pants!

@ Angeliki ~ Hopefully Americans are just as different as people as any other race. And I agree about the stop living thing. That was pretty much what I tried to say earlier too. We wouldn't want them to think they have won.

@ Moe ~ The thing about the vest made me wonder too. But perhaps he thought he was safe when he was walking his toddler, I don't know.

@ Mik ~ Yikes, I haven't heard about that. A man totally chopped up?! That's really scary!

@ Conor ~ Sorry to hear that. I wish for more peaceful surroundings!

Cσησя Mμяρнỵ 24. April 2009, 18:16

Same Zaph...

Jen 25. April 2009, 15:07

" The man, who was walking his toddler".

:frown: That is a level of evil that my mind can't compute. To do so, in front of the man's child! *shakes head* Horrible.
