Ferris Wheel in Copenhagen
Wednesday, 19. August 2009, 08:28:29
I was taking a walk the other day - and as I headed home I passed the Ferris wheel.
As I approached it I was thinking to myself that it would be cool to take a tour in it. I decided that if there wasn't much of a queue I would give it a shot.
I was lucky. There wasn't any queue at all, so I bought a ticket and waited for the wheel to stop so I could get on board. I wasn't prepared to go there camera-wise - I only had my small camera with me - but hey - take a look - it does at least give you an impression of the view over my beloved city.
It was a clear, beautiful day - so it was even possible to see all the way to Sweden. (*sends Rose a friendly thought*)
It's always fun to see things from a different perspective once in a while.
All in all it was a great experience. It was a bit expensive though, 75 DKK (about 10 Eur) for a tour that lasted about 15 minutes - 3 rounds in the wheel. But hey - I'd gladly do it again.
The wheel is there until October. But the company who built it says that they consider to build a ferris wheel permanently.

I like it too, even though I got a little bit travel sick on third way around.

Love the last picture

Have you heard how the mermaid is doing and when she will be back? Did anything get put in her place for now?
Zaphira # 19. August 2009, 06:04
@ Jurjen ~ It is indeed!
Making that last picture was a bit 'overwhelming', since I am not so comfortable with hights, so looking down like that was... whoa!
@ Carol ~ I just read that if they keep it, it will have to be moved to another place.
I haven't read anything about the mermaid lately - I might go there soon-ish to see if they put that Chinese art up like they said they would.

I find the last photo kinda of funny that no one below looked up to see the ferris wheel.

a nice city - what a cool place to live
Zaphira # 19. August 2009, 06:38
It stopped 3-4 times on the first round - to let people on as you wrote, and one of the time was right on top. Very impressive, and also a bit scary.
@ Mr Rinse ~ Thank you - and it is a nice city indeed. A bit expensive, but cool anyway.

@ Kimmie ~ I'm 'only' scared of the heights. I tried to get the view more of the 'looking down'.

So it's there all by itself? It's not like there's any Carnival or Fair there? Did they also make it go backwards?
Zaph, have you ever gotten in one of those rides where they carry you straight up ... and then just drop you free-falling?
Zaphira # 19. August 2009, 17:08
And no. I wasn't up - it was the other way round, I was down.
@ Gavin ~ Is it a permanent one they're building there? This one isn't.
@ Marike ~ Thank you so much
@ Sunny ~ I loved the idea of the fully enclosed gondolas, because I am afraid of heights, and this helped tremendously!
They didn't make it go backwards
And yes, it was there all by itself, no Carnival or anything.
I've never been in such a ride you describe, but I know they have one in Tivoli. I've seen a blind man queueing for it - and I remember wondering whether he was aware what he was standing in line for!

@ Angeliki ~ Is 10 Euro cheaper than a plane ticket?? Whoa, you must have some seriously cheap tickets there!
And - you're welcome, of course

the prices in USA are awful!
Living in NYC makes one brave sice it is one of the most expensive places to live in...
by the way did you have anybody to hold your hand when up high on the top of the wheel ?
ellinidata # 19. August 2009, 18:33
I am asking since I know you are afraid of heights
Zaphira # 19. August 2009, 18:38
No, I didn't bring a hand-holder, even though I did consider to take the guard with me. I tried to keep my eyes in "roof height", it's not as bad as looking down.
Btw, I forget to mention something funny.
In one of the houses next to the Ferris wheel, there's a hotel. The hotel has a balcony on the top floor, which must have a perfect view! Next to the balcony - across the roof, there's an old guard tower. In that tower there were a couple who made out!

She lives in Salonika (second capital of Greece).Visiting Athens and not Acropolis it is a crime in my boos but many Greeks never been there...when she visited I had the idea of seeing the sunset from it even if no Tours are given at that hour.
We did climb up the rock,
*I took her up from an area that no gates are locked *,
and when we are at the top holding our beer that was no cold any longer we ended up at a clif where a man was jerking off and he overlooked Athens and the sunset...
I believe he did continue with more wild fantasies,
since we both refussed to miss the sunset
and did stay just a few feet away from the lost son of Zeus

Imagine what other wild fetishes he might have!
@ Carol ~ You know what I think about him!
I could never have taken more than one ride. And then I would be sick for the rest of the day.
