Marzipan Muffins

,

It's been a while since I posted a recipe, so I think it's time for another one of my own.

I made these ones up - I wanted them simple, with only a few ingredients in them, but still good tasting. I think I made it!

ZRS (Zaphira's Recipe Service) proudly presents:

Zaphira's Delicious Marzipan Muffins
(makes 10)

Ingredients
2 eggs
200 grams white sugar (one and a half cup)
100 gram marzipan, grated (3.5 Oz.)
100 ml yoghurt (3.4 fl. Oz.)
200 gram flour (one and a half cup)
2 teaspoons baking powder
A handful of granulated sugar

How to do it?

Grate the marzipan. Put it in the fridge the day before you want to bake - it's much easier to grate it when it's really cold.

Whip the eggs thoroughly with the sugar.

Ad the marzipan and stir with a spoon.

Ad the yoghurt and stir again.

Mix the flour and the baking powder, and fold it into the rest of the dough.

Fill into muffin tins and sprinkle with granulated sugar.

Bake by 180 C (356 F) for 15 minutes.

My :star: muffin tins might look fancy, but even though they are made of silicon, it gives me hell cleaning them. The muffins don't stick to them, but there's dough in all the little grooves. :bomb: It takes forever to clean them. My next tins will be groove-less. :D

Here's the baked muffin:

 Enjoy!

These sound so yummy! I  marzipan, unfortunately, they don't sell it here. awww I have to wait to get to England to buy some.

flamingo-rinse 22. September 2009, 08:45

Marzipan Recipe - I've never tried this, but it looks about right

rose-marie 22. September 2009, 08:57

I don't like marzipan awww. Or, that's not entirely true. I love marzipan in semlor but that's about it...
I do adore the tins, though

Cois 22. September 2009, 09:02

When do I put the meat in?

wickedlizard 22. September 2009, 09:48

Thanks for recipe for marzipan flamingo...

flamingo-rinse 22. September 2009, 09:49

Welcome  (I wonder if it might need a splat of almond essence too...depends on how much you like the almond taste, I guess  )

Cynthia23 22. September 2009, 11:11

Yummy! Cool recipe Zaphira!

Hermitess 22. September 2009, 11:55

That looks really good!

Is this the same marzapan that the little fruits and things are made of? I've never eaten it, what is it?

dragon_harrower 22. September 2009, 15:11

Those look wonderful! I'm definitely going to have to try these soon.

ellinidata 22. September 2009, 16:02

I want to move next door to your place!!! :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :chef: :chef: :chef: :chef:

Zaphira 22. September 2009, 19:06

@ Moe ~ Thank you so much.

@ Mr Rinse ~ You're welcome. They're good with tea - and with milk. And even with tea with milk. :D

@ Star ~ They are really good. Unfortunately so good that they don't last very long.

@ Carol ~ Oh, I thought marzipan was common all over the world. Here we mostly use it for making little candies for Christmas.

@ Ana ~ Hiya, I'm glad you like the look of them. I wanted them simple, I hate it when you need to buy 20 different things to bake an ovenful of muffins.

@ Kimmie ~ Thank you. If you like marzipan, you'll like these ones.

@ Issy ~ I can see you've already gotten a recipe for marzipan. When I make candy for new year, I also make the marzipan myself. That way it gets more delicious. :yum:

@ Mik ~ Darn, I should have painted it blue. Or green. :D

@ Rose ~ Semlor...? that looks like a fastelavnsbolle to me. :D

@ Cois ~ No meat. It's meat free day today.

@ Mr Rinse again ~ If I wanted a stronger taste of almonds, I'd ad extra almonds instead of essence.

@ Mit ~

@ Cynthia ~ Thank you so much.

@ Hermitess ~ Yes, it's "almost" the same thing. When I say almost, it's because lots of the marzipan you can buy is made with too much sugar. Good marzipan contains at least 67 % almonds and no more than 33 % sugar.

@ Dragon Harrower ~ Oh goodie. Please let me know what you think of them.

@ Angeliki ~ That would be awesome!

Zaphira 22. September 2009, 19:07

Wow... that's one long comment! :faint:

AnitaMargita 22. September 2009, 19:11

 :D

Aqualion 22. September 2009, 21:16

Today my wife has been going on and on about cakes with marzipan, so this sure comes in handy. Thanks. I'm looking forward to some gastronomical extravaganza tomorrow.

Quite right, but if you didn't have any extra ground almonds, a little drop of the essence would probably work fine....

..but your taste buds are spot on - extra almonds is the best answer

Dacotah 22. September 2009, 21:48

It might be here in the states in the bigger cities, but to North Dakota not so much.

dragon_harrower 22. September 2009, 22:26

Try Safeway (if there's one around), Dacotah. That's where I found it out here in Small Town, Nebraska. Hopefully you can get it there.

Hermitess 22. September 2009, 22:36

mmmm I love almonds!

ddrf <-- that's a note from Bella, I can't read canine, so I hope you can!

ellinidata 22. September 2009, 22:42

Zaphira 23. September 2009, 04:07

@ Lion ~ I hope both you and your marzipan-craving wife both like it!

@ Mr Rinse ~ You're right of course. I only said that because I like the real deal better.

@ Carol ~ Then I'm sure you've got something else that I've never heard of too.

@ Dragon_H ~ Thanks for that.

@ Hermitess ~ I sure do. It's drooly!

@ Angeliki ~ *hugs*

Dacotah 23. September 2009, 04:17

Zaphira  I just might at that.
Hmmmm....... *Thinking*

Zaphira 23. September 2009, 05:49

:D

Take your camera to the local supermarket and surprise me.

flamingo-rinse 23. September 2009, 06:30

*note* I took my camera into one of my local supermarkets and nearly got roughly hustled out by brawny shelf stackers - they asked what the hell I thought I was doing, and then told me not to, and then stalked me while I completed my shopping (I took a few snaps of some fresh Pacific Fish, and the speciality cheese counter  - very cloak and dagger ) - they thought I might be taking photos of the displays and prices for the competition!! (this is true) So - be careful out there boys and girls.....

Hermitess 23. September 2009, 06:34

I sneekily use my phone camera. :left:

Not that I'm doing that often but occasionally I see some odd thing I feel I MUST share with my buds here on Opera.

flamingo-rinse 23. September 2009, 06:36

I was using my phone camera too - but somebody behind a counter spotted me and alerted the shopping police - they weren't joking, either

(I was taking snaps for a friend overseas, to illustrate shops & produce here)

Aqualion 23. September 2009, 06:43

That, I must try! I will take my camera to the shopping center this afternoon and take pictures of everything, just to see what will happen. I don't have much else to do today. I happen to know the guy who's in charge of the guards (our local version of what Rinse calls 'shopping police'), since he owns the tobacco shop, so I guess I won't get kicked out. But the rest of the people... Wooooahahaha!

flamingo-rinse 23. September 2009, 06:47

Yeah - just do it!!! Find the biggest supermarket, and walk around taking close ups of stuff, and pics of the bigger displays...see what happens  I bet they freak out eventually.....

Zaphira 23. September 2009, 06:51

I've been taking loads of photos in the local supermarkets here, mostly of "stuff", not so much of the supermarket "in general", so to speak. The few times I've been doing that, I've done it "secretly". The times I've taken photos of the stuff they've got, I've just pulled out the camera, snapped my photos and stuffed the camera back. Sometimes some of the costumers have stared, but frankly, I don't give a damn. :D

Some things are too good not to share.

Hermitess 23. September 2009, 06:56

Shopping police

*snigger*

I didn't realize there was such a thing!

OOOOO

wait...

YES, there is
only we call them "secret shoppers" here. Plain clothes people who browse the store secretly watching everyone else. sneeky sneeky

Zaphira 23. September 2009, 06:57

But aren't they "just" watching if people steal? I mean, would they actually ask you to put that cam away and escort you out of the store?

Hermitess 23. September 2009, 07:01

yes they would.

I hear.

I didn't even know we had them until I friend I was shopping with knew one of them and told me. Well I guess they tell the store security or stalk them until they leave the store, then they can be arrested.

flamingo-rinse 23. September 2009, 07:14

And so we witness the start of a new consumer revolution...:D

Aqualion 23. September 2009, 07:25

Perhaps they are afraid we might be aliens - and I mean proper aliens from space, like on TV, you know - that will take pictures of everything and put the pictures in publicly accessible databases in our home worlds, so that everyone can look at them... Erm... Darn, that is what we're doing, isn't it?

:right: :left:

Dacotah 23. September 2009, 07:28

Zaphira, yep, that was my idea but been trying to think of something that you wouldn't have there. Hmmmm.......

Hermitess 23. September 2009, 07:28

I mean  :left:

MirabelaTM 23. September 2009, 12:36

It looks so delicious Zaphira  I'll surely try to make it.

Zaphira 23. September 2009, 13:59

:sing: Oh ohhh I'm an alien... :sing:

@ Mirabela ~ Oh goodie. Please let me know what you think of them.

MirabelaTM 23. September 2009, 14:03

 Ok, I'll let you know, Zaphira.

Aqualion 23. September 2009, 18:27

"We interupt this programme to inform you that just now aliens from the planet Wierd in the Bizarro System have landed in a silver machine demanding to meet our leader. We urge all citizens to take precautions and secure your Marzipan Muffins."

Furie 23. September 2009, 19:25

*shoots the alien*

Zaphira 23. September 2009, 19:42

You should have taken shooting lessons!
