Left brain vs. Right brain
Saturday, July 16, 2011 7:20:21 AM
That sounds weird, but it's not.
The human brain consists of the right brain and the left brain. The shapes of these two parts are similar, but differences have been gradually found in their functions. The left brain is also referred to as the digital brain. It controls reading and writing, calculation, and logical thinking. The right brain is referred to as the analogue brain. It controls three-dimensional sense, creativity, and artistic senses. These two halves work together, but most people are controlled more by one part than by the other!

Basically left brainers are:
Logical
Sequential
Rational
Analytical
Objective
Looks at parts
And right brainers are:
Random
Intuitive
Holistic
Synthesizing
Subjective
Looks at wholes
Can you tell from the lists if you're mostly ruled by left or right part of your brain?
If not, you can take this test - it might give you a hint.
My result is:
Right Brain Dominance:
(7)
Right Brain/ Left Brain Quiz
I am not really surprised over this result. I think of myself as *very* analytical, logically thinking and rational, which all implies left brain dominance. But I admit to be subjective, very empathic and I always try to look at the whole perspective in all situations, which is definitely a right brain thing.
So there you have it. I'm a mix of the two, but slightly more left brained than right brained.
What are you?

left brain= 6
right brain= 10
but, i already knew i was right brain dominate. because i'm left handed. and probably the easiest way to tell is by which way you cock your head when you think.

But you're correct in saying that you wouldn't use the word 'wholes'.
The dictionary entry for 'whole' is longer than that of the average word, which is always a good indication that a word has a complex definition that can vary with context. For example, 'whole' can also mean 'in good health'.
Whole is the root word from which we get the words 'holy' and 'holistic' from. (also the prefix 'holo-' as in, hologram, holocaust etc.)
(and no, I don't know why it starts with a 'w' when all the other words from the same root only have an 'h'

A hole is just 'et hul' in Danish, so we never confuse those two words.

examples of usage:
"Die motor is heel." (the car is working. or, the car is whole.)
"Hy het die hele koek geët!" (he ate the whole cake)
Then there is the word 'heeltemal';
"Hy het die muur heeltemal stukkund geslaan!" (he hit the wall completely to pieces!) ((that was a difficult one to translate!
Ok, my brain's about to burst after revisiting my school days so that's enough from me for now!

And here's a curious thing - all I did to find that list was google 'famous right brain people'. Then I did the same for 'famous left brain people' and got nothing like that at all, nada, zip. Lots of stuff about left & right brain characteristics yadayadayada, but no famous left brainers. Isn't that weird?
