I never really fancied eating it, because as Martin says it`s mainly fat and sugar.I do like peanut butter and/or chocolate spread. Ironically (relating your other post about Nutella) I believe Tesco sells its own hazelnut and chocolate spread.rolleyes

KittyliciousZaphira Monday, February 6, 2012 5:13:17 AM

@ Flarin ~ Ain't that the truth! yes

@ Freya ~ Ha yeah, that is kinda funny! rolleyes I've tasted lots of other chocolate spreads - but Nutella stays my favourite of them all!

Even though I don't eat it (or them) I have tasted a lot of the other varieties - budget and otherwise - and they're just not in the same league, really. I can't say that as a rule they're inferior, just not the same smile Having said that, I can't detect any serious taste difference between budget and 'name' brand - mostly it's a texture\consistency thing, I think.

Looks like you're in luck, Pussy Cat!! smile

Agreed... Tea is good for treating ocular inflammation, not good for anything else...

@Kitty

Will you, by chance, at one point do a post where there's no mentioning of Nutella. Not that I dislike Nutella, it's just that you might find it refreshing yourself to change the subject once in a while.

I *always* replace the coffee with tea. yes Or... with Pepsi Max, but that's a completely different story.

I'll see what I can do postwise. wink

*wipes mouth* p

Nutella and Pepsi... You really do have a sweet tooth, don't ya?!

wink

KittyliciousZaphira Tuesday, February 7, 2012 6:12:19 AM

Not just one. They're all kinda sweet! wink

Martin K™Aqualion Tuesday, February 7, 2012 6:24:08 AM

My mother in-law took this stray cat in care this autumn and he is a very big cat. We soon discovered why. His favourites are marzipan, whipped cream, all sorts of cake left-overs and such stuff. We found out when he kept jumping the table around Christmas to get all the sweet stuff that was left over from baking and making Christmas candy. I've known a lot of cats but none with as sweet a tooth/teeth as this guy.

KittyliciousZaphira Tuesday, February 7, 2012 8:10:12 AM

No wonder he gained "a bit" of weight then! lol
I don't think I've ever known any cats that were after sweet stuff like that. I had a cat myself that went absolutely crazy and that would purr and be all around me if I brought fedtegrever home. She knew from the moment I opened the front door. lol

Martin K™Aqualion Tuesday, February 7, 2012 9:31:19 AM

My own cat is a lady of traditions. Her all times favourite is canned tuna. However, she is also a lady of taste, so it has to be a specific brand. Peculiar thing is, her preferred brand is the cheap one from Aldi. I sometimes serve a higher quality tuna but she won't touch it and gives me the I'd-kill-you-if-my-life-didn't-depend-on-you look that cats are so good at.

FlaRin Tuesday, February 7, 2012 2:50:45 PM

I once had a Cat called Jukebox who was a fool for canned tomatoes smile

@Pussy Cat : Fedtegrever translates into 'Greaves' - the unmeltable residue left after animal fat has been rendered. bigeyes Are you kidding, or...??

DHdarkesthour Tuesday, February 7, 2012 7:30:17 PM

I had a cat that liked baked beans, they did however cause the most foul flatulence I have ever come across from a cat..

KittyliciousZaphira Tuesday, February 7, 2012 8:47:51 PM

I'm never kidding about food. I don't know what fedtegrever is in English, but your translation sounds as if it's something like it. It's fat from a pig, basically. And she was a sucker for it and could even smell it through a sealed plastic bag. bigeyes

<warning : may contain Nuts>

KittyliciousZaphira Monday, February 27, 2012 3:57:14 PM

Double warning: May make me nuts. lol
That looks absolutely delicious! Om Nom Nom!!!

Martin K™Aqualion Monday, February 27, 2012 4:41:46 PM

Actually, from the look of it I'd say, that cake deserves something better than Nutella, like proper homemade nut cream or a very rich chocolate ditto. Makes me want to bake.

FlaRin Monday, February 27, 2012 5:16:36 PM

Martin K™Aqualion Monday, February 27, 2012 5:56:42 PM

A cake of that sort deserves something rich, something that can match it's own richness. I'd say a berry coulis of some sort. It's fairly easy to make. One part berries and one part sugar and a twist of brandy if you like. Cook it until it mixes and drive it through a sieve, and it's ready for serving.

KittyliciousZaphira Monday, February 27, 2012 9:03:17 PM

I'd be happy with both Nutella and the berry stuff, to be honest. I'm not sure how much I could actually eat of it, but I *love* the thought! smile
